CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN THE HOUSE PAINTER CALLED IN SICK, ANOTHER PAINTER- – –

RVEDMIFOHCORE – COVERED FOR HIM

Good Morning, Everyone!        🖌 50 SHADES OF RAY? 🖌

🎶 I don’t PAINT myself into corners anymore, in a brittle heart of clay, I threw my BRUSHES away….The tools of the trade that chained your memory to me are out the door…I don’t PAINT myself into corners anymore…🎶

🖌 Today we see three painters, with rollers in their hands
The FOURTH one sick is leaving a void within this band
The one with RAVEN hair named Mike, is asking where is Bill
The other pony-tailed painter says, “I’ve got time to kill…”
Yes I ADMIT I made that up, it’s not what we can see
But rhyming all these words each day is far from that easy…
We see that Ray is willing to double up the task
Not getting rude or COARSE at all, and he’s not even asked…
The job will still go smoothly, they’ll paint the walls and trim
Cause Ray stood up and with a smile simply COVERED FOR HIM! 🖌

So, we’ve made it to Friday, and we really haven’t been PAINTED into a corner. The week’s words have been a good MIX of easy, breezy with maybe a slight BRUSH with a STICKler or two. And today’s words FINISH out the week with the same TONE. We’ve seen them before, and we’ve come through with flying COLORS! So, on to our cartoon. We’re being told that four men were hired to PAINT a house. Mike, Bill, Ray, and RED. We see Mike, asking Ray, “Where’s Bill”. We see RED, indifferently just ROLLing along. We learn that Bill has called in sick. Not looking to get CANned from the job, Ray has offered to do his share of the work. No big deal, He just BRUSHES it off. Our question asks, what did one PAINTER do when the other called in sick…he COVERED FOR HIM! Good one, David, I like what HUE did there! Ok, the eye candy. This is a ROUGH one today. We have the Bucket, the Tray, the Drop Cloth. We have the GREEN  Paint. There’s the little Hook on Ray’s pants. Mike has one too, with a RAG attached. IDK, it’s just not very COLORful…Maybe I’ll just COAT over it for today…So, There you have it, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! It’s Friday…Get out there and PAINT the town RED!🖌🙋🏻

  1. The language the RAVEN mimicked was very COARSE and his FOURTH owner had to ADMIT he was partly responsible.
Clue words were not a challenge but the length of the solution gave me pause. At first I thought one of the two letter words would be “his” rather than him. I had to stare at the cartoon and think about words associated with painting before I got the solution. Great play on words and NO pun.
I’ll have to Goggle your song today, Angela, I don’t recognize it but it certainly fits with today’s cartoon.
I’m glad I don’t try to rhyme the clue words—and I admire your ability to brush up your Shakespeare and give us sheer poetry every day.

    • Good Morning, Earl. So that RAVEN had some COLORFUL language, huh? 😂 Great sentence! I like the word play use also, the solution was a good one. Today I glanced at that first, and had it COVERED…Then I RED the words…Cute, easy puzzle all around…TBT, Earl, rhyming with the puzzle theme, and the days words sometimes makes me BLUE, and I see RED! It can definitely be a challenge. Thanks for mentioning it. And thanks for the shout out. You got two good ones in there, and you’ve STROKEd my ego! 😉 My song today is Tricia Yearwood. ..🎶 I Don’t Paint Myself Into Corners…🎶 I’ve always liked the TONE of her voice! Have a good one, Earl…🖌🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Caroline. You’re in good company…You’re the 5th one who’s told me that so far this morning. Hope you enjoy your day! 🖌🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. Wait just a darn minute. All we know is that Bill was out sick! Is this some new math. How did we get the other guys names i.e.:”Mike,Red and Ray.”Am I missing something? Just all in jest! Great job as always Angela and thank you for your vote of confidence yesterday. You gave me a good laugh. That little loop on the side of the pants(usually coveralls) is for a hammer. Still have a pair of my fathers. I guess the pill didn’t work so great today. I was stuck on the last word and didn’t get it until I solved the cartoon answer which took some minutes to get. The letters I had gave me For Him so it was just a matter of getting the first word. Once I got that I had the letters I needed for the last word. I had to Admit that the flying Coarse layed out for the Raven was especially tough for the Fourth and final run. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn! My RAY of Sunshine! You know, I failed to mention that the name Mike is embroidered on the guys shirt…I took my HUE from him, and RAN with it! I went with RAY because I was already laughing at the “50 SHADES of..”, and RED..well, I couldn’t call him VIOLET, could I? 😂 You know how I do like to PAINT a picture! As for the new Math? Me? No, Bud, COUNT me out! Ok, the loop. Not only do I have two pair of my own, I too still have two of my Father’s! There’s definitely a STROKE of serendipity between you and I, Paul. With Caroline’s comment, you now make 6 people so far that got stuck on COARSE..I hope by now though, it’s RUN its COURSE! And as for that smart pill…? I guess it just kicked in a little late, because your sentence is a winner! Y’day? JEEZ, it was nothin’! Hang in there, Brooklyn! You help COLOR my world! 🖌🙋🏻

      • As per you !! You had me ROTFL. You made my day. Regarding Manhattan Beach. Years ago you had to be rich to live there. There was a well known Judge that lived there and had lots of pull. The area was well patrolled. There also was the owner of Strieds Matzo there. The judge let you know who he was but the matzo owner was nice. Did you ever go swimming at the beach?

        • Brooklyn, you know I love it when you laugh! And as I’ve said before, you make my mornings brighter..The least I could do is try and do the same for you…
Paul, as per me what? Your sentence? We can’t just BRUSH it off…It’s good! Swim at Manhattan Beach? Paul, we lived at Manhattan Beach! Day AND night! 😉 (That’s a WINK, Paul)!!!! I don’t remember the Matzo guy, but I think I remember talk about the “Judge’s house”. I’m talking late 70’s. We were all over those rocks!! 😉 It was so nice there, it still is. Changed somewhat, but still nice. My cousin lives down there, and my Dr is there. Both of them got destroyed by Sandy. You can’t imagine what it looked like. Any chance you went by there after Sandy? You just stood and cried…Anyway…Nice trip down Memory Lane, right? Keep ’em laughing, Brooklyn! 🙋🏻

      • Excuse me countess,lm texting with royalty. When I said as per:,I was referring to your ROFL. In my head I know what I’m thinking but others might not. My son tells me that all the time. No…….I never got back there after Sandy. But one of my friends had a house there and talked about the damsge. When his father passed away and he redid the house for sale he found over hundred thousand in one of the walls. That’s how he was able to afford the house in Manhattan Beach.

        • HA! As if! Royalty? Yea, just me! Although, last time I was at the dentist, and he said I needed a Crown…I did think…”See, finally somebody can tell”! 😂😂 I thought you were diminishing your comment…This can get so confusing, right? And we speak the same language, too..Brooklynese! Its the lack of inflection, no cadence…It’s ok, tho. I get that all the time too…In fact, I’m getting it right now as we speak…My friend telling me that what I just said to him makes absolutely no sense! And would I explain..Jeez…Life shouldn’t be this hard, right? 😂😂 Yea, Manhattan Beach was buried under water and debris, what was left standing, anyway. ..So, I’m starting renovation soon…I’m going to check my walls…🙋🏻

      • Thank you. Once in awhile something pops into my head. Can’t do it like you every day. I look to see how you use them. Because of you and Angela it gives me courage to try. T Y.

  3. Coarse also gave me fits, but given the 4 words solved,,covered for him quickly followed.

  4. Add me to the list of folks who paused at coarse. I backed into that one but no problem with the other words or the cartoon answer. Have a Happy Friday everyone.

    • It’s a landslide, Betty! I’m going to stop counting…You know how I feel about Math!
Good Morning, and I hope the COARSE of your day RUNS well…🖌🙋🏻

    • Brooklyn…Delayed reaction…The royalty comment? Did you think I was saying we lived in Manhattan Beach? I meant we LIVED in Manhattan Beach…The DAY and NIGHT line. Hanging out…I’m a Gravesend Girl, remember? Tried and true…We got to do something about this inflection! 😂
Hope you’re having a good one, Bud! 🙋🏻

      • I did think you lived there. But I’ll still give you the royal treatment since you have a crown. Lol.

        • ROTFL…Cool! And I’ll do the same for you, since you live in KINGS county!
          Fair enough, Bud? 👑👑🙋🏻

  6. After Gonzaga’s gift of a win yesterday in the first round, another one today in the form of an easy Friday puzzle. Blind solve and I “rolled” right through the CWs.

    Until tomorrow!

    • Gonzaga! “Cura personalis”…Jesuit Values! You and Betty! ..And a nice win, too, right? Seriously, I don’t know how I survive the Madness! Good one with ROLLED, John! Have a great day! 🏀🙋🏻

  7. Hi all – Saw the answer right away. I’ll cast another vote for COARSE even though the tally is over.
Not much else to notice, so I’ll just wish you a great weekend!

    • Hey G… Yea, we had to close that poll down! Started PAINTING me into a corner! I think almost everyone had the puzzle COVERED today! By 5 this morning they were all telling me they were in the PINK! Talk to you later, Bud! 🖌🙋🏻
