Happy Friday, my friends! Looking back at all of the wonderful puzzles this week, my favorite one was Monday’s “WADING-AREA” Jumble featuring a younger Walt Disney and his pal Donald Duck. It had a surprise answer in quotes and I was really excited to see that today’s game also had one — that’s two in one week!

If you’re visiting this website for the first time, my guess would be that you arrived here looking for the solution to PUNDIT. It was, in my opinion, the most challenging of the four. It’s a word not seen or used often unless you watch the larger news channels where it is occasionally mentioned while introducing someone that is a scholar or otherwise very knowledgeable in a particular subject or matter. EXUDE could also have been a struggle, but the X and the two E’s limited the amount of possible word combinations.

Moving along to the cartoon, it featured two women having a conversation while some type of dance party is occurring in the background. Reading the dialogue and sentence, we discover the women are teachers or volunteers who are checking the guest list of a prom. In the dialogue of the woman on the left, she makes mention of our well known Jumble hero, David L. Hoyt as well as a woman by the name of Claire Haasl. Fans of the Jumble will immediately recognize her name and know that David is dancing with his future wife. At first I wasn’t sure which man was David because I’ve never seen a picture of him with hair. Jeff did a great job of clearing that up by having the woman pointing to the couple on the right. And just look at his dance moves! His arm’s are flapping and and he’s really shaking and grooving! I wonder if it’s the song that’s playing that has him in such a good mood? Or maybe it’s the fact that he’s spending the evening with his love interest during one of the most cherished events in a students final year. I’d assume that it’s DEFINITELY the second choice!

The solve was a no-brainer after writing out the clue letters. The list that the woman were holding was the clue that pulled it all together for me. The letter layout was well done but starting it with an A made it way too easy.

    • Jumble words were super easy,even pundit , for me.All the ‘a’ s and ‘d ‘s made the solution a snap.In general I don’t care for hyphenated solutions ,but today’s wasn’t that bad.

    💃🏼🏃🏻AGAIN we have a school theme, but today we’re at a Prom
    We see Dave and his girl Claire, and Dave’s looking like “da bomb”
    His dance moves EXUDE confidence, he’s looking very cool
    I’m guessing then that he and Claire met while back in High School.
    The chaperones are checking to be sure no one’s CRAFTY
    There’ll be no crashing at this dance, they couldn’t let that be…
    The PUNDITs know that this goes on, so this school’s on the ball,
    They have their list to be verify the names of one and all.
    To wrap up I just wonder…Dave and Claire, this great romance…
    Was this the night it started, at this Prom’s ATTEND DANCE? 💃🏼🏃🏻

    Ok, so Pundit? Is it KNEW? I’m not sure…but I like the looks of it. The rest…WALTZed right through them. Our cartoon: Jeff has us ATTENDing David’s Prom. His wife, Claire, at the time his girlfriend, shares the dance floor with him. Another couple is shown, the female half definitely feeling the music. WOP! WOP! Knowing Dave’s age, and doing the Math, we’re back in the early ’80s. So, what dances do we have HAIR? There was the MOONWALK, the SPRINKLER, the SNAKE, the WORM, the CABBAGE PATCH. BUTT, what is it that Dave’s doing? Jeff’s drawn him with his arms really flying around. Looks like he’s wearing a cape! Could it be the RUNNING MAN? Is that what he’s doing HAIR? Hmm. Maybe,BUTT it is a little hard to tell. Anyway, the chaperones, only one of which is blonde and dressed in purple, are looking at their list, and checking it twice…🎶Gonna find out who’s naughty or..🎶Oh, sorry…wrong list. Um, they’re checking the list to verify who’s attending. The Dance…Who’s in…”ATTEND-DANCE”! DA-DA! Clear the floor, and CUE the Spotlight! We’ve HAMMERed this one home! Good MOVE, Dave. Great pun! Ok, so eye candy. Except for the aforementioned female dancer on the left…(Who really looks like she’s PREPping for an MTV video), and her partners tie which kind of looks a little 70s-ish, there’s really not much more HAIR. Claire has some bracelets, SWINGING on her wrists, BUTT they really don’t FLOOR me. So I guess I’ll have to go with Dave’s arm MOVEMENTS. It’d be a BALD-faced lie if I didn’t admit they look a little different…So, There you have it Folks, Done!

  3. The CRAFTY PUNDIT vowed never to EXUDE arrogance on his radio show AGAIN.
    Clue words gave me no trouble—I believe they have all appeared before, but others with better memories may either confirm or deny this assertion.
    The solution, once I wrote the circled letters out, was almost instant–in spite of my unease at those quotation marks. This pun was a not a major groan.
    Great posts Mike and Angela—you always enlighten me on things I either cannot see or have no knowledge about. Strange dresses for the girls if this is a high school prom, don’t you think?
    TGIF– I got it right this week, Angela. Another day up here when walking outside is not only possible but enjoyable.

I immediately thought of you and Paul when I saw the quotation marks…(maybe John now too). The old “Quotation Trepidation”! But as you say, it wasn’t a bad one at all. Easy solve. The dresses. Earl, it was the 80’s. Not sure if you were HAIR in America then, but…trust me, not strange at all! 😉 It’s beautiful HAIR, too. A tad chilly, but the sun has been shining since dawn.   4. Good morning. Great sentence Earl. I will not even attempt to mess with perfection,you deserve the crown. Mike and Angela great job as always. I breezed through the first three words and then hit a wall on the last one. After an hour I gave up and got Pundit. I had no idea what it’s meaning was. Not to plagiarize but,I was one of the ignorant folks that needed to be educated. Now that I look back I would say I have been a Pundit when I read my paper in college regarding “Safety Features for an elevator”. “Who knew”,not me. By now Angela (and she’s right) probably figured I bailed out seeing the cartoon answer in quotations. It was just too much. Once I saw the answer and it was sooooo simple, I coulda, shoulda,stuck with it. But then again,There’s tomorrow. Stay well my friends.

  5. After completing over of a year of puzzles, I have finally been ”jumbleized” by Jeff and David; I actually did a blind solve of a “quotation trepidation” puzzle, with a hyphen no less!

  6. Hi, all! I agree with you, Mike, that we had an easy one today. I didn’t try for a blind solve, but one glance at the letters revealed the cartoon answer. I enjoyed your sweet, thorough description of the prom, Mike. I think you are a romantic at heart.

    Now back to eating & sleeping for me. I got another email from my nurse friend today giving me recipes for fattening smoothies.

    After making Jerry rest in his recliner for 3 days, he is much better. We are both feeling well today and thank you for the well wishes that all of you have been so generous with.

    • Hi Lelia – Food is good, and getting rest is good. I recommend both. The comic Stan Freberg once did a spoof commercial for food in general that ended with the tagline “Food is Goood! ”. See you later.

  7. Thanks, Mike! Your answer made me smile. We are expecting 69 high today and 45 low. Two days ago I got chilled in the kitchen, starting thinking about standing next to your pellet stove, and turned on the oven with the door open to warm only me for a few minutes.

    • Hi, Steve! I googled Stan Freberg & didn’t find your hysterical commercial “Food is Goood,” which made me laugh, but I saw 2 other funny ones about Chow Mein & Pitted Prunes. They promised to do Pitted Prunes With No Wrinkles next.
      Speaking of food, Jerry & I laughed together when on national cheese day, you told someone to enjoy cutting the cheese.
      I always enjoy & thank you for a word of something funny that makes me laugh, some beautiful music to thrill my soul, and good medical advice to get me well.
      Last night I walked into the living room as Jerry was about to watch the last Football MVP perform for judges and the guy blew me away singing Ave Maria.

  9. Why can’t Angela just stick to the puzzle. I Came to this site to see answers and how difficult it was for other people. Love Mike’s descriptions but, Angela is getting on my nerves especially when Mike’s away!!
