CARTOON ANSWER: THE INTERVIEW WITH UNDER-SEA EXPLORER

JACQUES COUSTEAU WAS – – –

PNIETDH – IN DEPTH

Good Morning, Everyone!        ⚓️ JACQUES VALUE? ⚓️

🎶UNDER the SEA, UNDER the SEA..Darlin’ it’s better, DOWN where it’s wetter
Take it from me…Up on the shore they work all day, out in the sun they slave away…While we devotin’…Full time to floatin’…UNDER the SEA🎶

⚓️⚓️ Undersea exploring while adventurous to some
Was never on my bucket list, and never will be done.
I love to sail the ocean, but WHILE I’m out to sea
Above the water I remain, a boat is under me.
I’m not a PUPPET to a trend, and once when all my friends
Decided “we” would do this, I said, “Uh, the “we” just ends…
I’m in the Keys to have some fun, I’m good up by the rail,
I’m happy lying here with a Red King RADISH Cocktail.
And as I’m eating hors d’oeuvres with my tiny two-PRONG pick
You guys go on and do your thing , but here I’m ‘gonna stick…”
So as they all went under, I relaxed with a deep breathe
And enjoyed being above board and nowhere near “IN DEPTH“! ⚓️⚓️

So, day three, and we still haven’t gone DEEP, have we? Good words, good anagramming, but we’re not really in OVER OUR HEADS, so to speak. WATERever, I guess Dave’s just giving us a little BREATHING room. Ok, time for us COUSTEAU over to our cartoon. Today, Jeff puts us in a under water vessel. CRAY-SEA in my opinion. But hey, different toys for different BUOYS. WE SEA the late, noted Frenchman, Jacques Cousteau, being interviewed by a PIER of interNET rePORTers, SEA-SEA and BRILL. Known for his many accomFISHments, Cousteau was also noted for his quotes. The one mentioned here may just be his best, for SHORE. As the interVIEW FLOWS, we can SEA our rePORTers taking an inFINite amount of notes. They’re WHALEy getting INTO it. So, when our question asks us what the interVIEW was, we SEA it was “IN DEPTH”!  Well DROP the ANCHOR and raise the HYDROSTATIC pressure, CHUMS, we have us a pun! BRILLiant! That went just SWIMMINGly, didn’t it? Ok, on to our eye candy. We have a few SEA Creatures, but I’m not SOLEd on them. I think I’ll go with the DEPTH gauge. If you look closely, you can SEA that it reads: 20,000. “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”?, Jeff? Is that what you MANTA convey? Very KOI! So, There you have it Folks, Done!
Have a great day, Everyone! And remember..Don’t go out there FISHING for compliments…instead CARPe diem, SEAS the day…You’ll have a WHALE of a time! ⚓️🙋🏻

  1. Good morning, Angela. We’ll done as usual. You were not “in over your head”. Sea ya. Have a good day.

    • When I saw the 2 letter space in the solution,’in’ came readily to mind as did ‘depth’ when I saw the cartoon, before I solved the jumbles.’Puppet’ was a momentary head scratcher with 3 p’s.

      • Good Morning, Chuck. It is rare to see three of the same consonants in a six letter word. But you solved it just the same. Great job on getting the solution so quickly! Wishing you a great day! ⚓️🙋🏻

  2. WHILE harvesting his RADISH crop, the PUPPET maker used a PRONG to crop the leaves from the vegetable.
I had to stare hard at PRONG because I know a couple with that surname, before I realised it was also a tool or pick. The solution was not a “blind solve” today–had to write out the circled letters before the pun was revealed.
I like the creature staring in one of the portholes(if that’s the correct term)—looks scary and funny at the same time.
Neat poem and punny post, Angela. Thanks.

    • Good Morning, Earl. Thanks so much. Nice use of Radish. I worried for a sec where I’d work it in! Have a good one. ⚓️🙋🏻

  3. Good morning. Radish was the third word to get with prong taking the longest.I just couldn’t get it and as usual, when I did I was mad it took so long. Once I wrote down the letters the cartoon was quickly solved. It never ceases to amaze me how you can feel like a dummy and then a genius all in one puzzle. Do we need gratification to make us feel better? Like good job Angela and Earl ! lol, Just having fun. I had no idea how to fit those words in a sentence. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hey Paul. Good morning. “Good job” on getting it done! Bet you could do a sentence if you tried…Give it a shot…I’m here all day! Thanks and have a good one! ⚓️🙋🏻

  4. WHILE entertaining children at the faire, the PUPPET had a RADISH rosette on his plate and tried to eat it using a fork with a PRONG missing.
This sentence is for Paul who gave me some praise today– I hope it will encourage him to try his hand a writing one some day?

  5. Not trolling for kudos, but another blind solve and quick work on the words until I hit radish. Had to dig into that one for a bit!

Growing up, I never missed a Cousteau special on TV. I dreamt of being the next Cousteau, but never followed my muse.

    • LOL. Yea, John, I can DIG it! And WATER we gonna do? We all regret the woulda, coulda, shouldas in our lives…Can’t let it get us DOWN…Have a good one! ⚓️🙋🏻

  6. Hi all – No problems today. The SH trick turned into the ISH trick for RADISH.

🎵”I must declare my heart is there
Though I’ve been from Maine to Mexico
But I’m sad to say I’m on my way
Won’t be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town”🎵

I just thought a little “Calypso” music would be nice in honor of Jacque’s ship, and I bet he hit Jamaica more than once.

“20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” is fine, but you know me, I’ll take “The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms” every time.

All those anchor emojis make me nostalgic for my home state flag. The home state itself, not quite as much, especially when I read the weather reports.

    Have a good one!

    • Hey Steve. Good CATCH with Calypso. JAMIACA me SMH! I meant to include it, but I got seriously “turned around” this morning, and I ended up rushing through the post. I can’t FATHOM that I forgot it! Don’t mention the weather!!! Have a good one, Bud….⚓️🙋🏻

  7. Hi, all! This morning at 8 a.m. I solved the cartoon & first 2 words instantly and quickly backed into the last 2 words. My hardest solve was RADISH after trying “sihard” & “ishard,” but I didn’t have even a minute to post before leaving to take Jerry for his cystoscopy. I’ll tell you the results in 2 weeks when we hear them.

Angela, loved it that you told me you saw the pun within the pun. I knew you would see it!! I won’t tell the pun to many people because most wouldn’t “get it” as completely as you did.

Steve, when you answered my sentence with a song about takin’ the tube back to the rollin’ pin, I didn’t answer because I don’t have music notes but I’ll just use quotation marks and answer you: “Who are you? Who, who, who, who?”

Paul, thanks for telling me that you & your relative enjoyed a laugh together over my sentence.

Caroline, glad you liked my sentence. I never know when one will pop into my head.

    • Hi Lelia. Prayers for good news with Jerry’s test results.
Lines as clever as that are rare. It’s been circulating for a few years now, but it’s timeless enough that each time you hear it you still appreciate the intelligence behind it. That one key word “literally” is what makes it a gem. It’s definitely one of those lines that makes every punster nod their heads… first with the realization, and then in homage! You mentioned a magazine. Was it a magazine of all jokes/puns? Have a great night, and again, all the best to you and Jerry. ⚓️🙋🏻

      • Hi, Angela, the magazine is The Saturday Evening Post which has a monthly feature titled JOKE FROM A GENIUS. The lady who submitted this one researches the roles & treatment of women throughout history and creates videos. The scripts she writes are filled with punning wordplay. Her studio (maryreidkelley.com) is in upstate New York. She won the 2016 MacArthur “genius grant.”
And just think, all you wanted to know was Sat. Evening Post, not all this. LOL

        • A grand old historied Mid-Western publication! I think the line first made a go around in 2013-14. It’s hard to trace the origin of a pun. They seem to rear their “PUNny” heads every few years! Thanks for the additional info, always welcome! 📖🙋🏻
