WHEN THE GYMNASTICS TEAM WON THE COMPETITION THEY – – –
PEPTOFILUD = FLIPPED OUT
Good Thursday morning everyone! If today’s Jumble was a gymnastics competition, there’s no doubt in my mind that everyone would win a gold medal. PERKY was the only challenging word this morning and that may be giving it too much credit. I don’t recall seeing it used recently so it was refreshing to have a spirited and lively adjective in the quartet. Noticing that three of the clue words contained P’s, I was sure that there would be a couple of them in the surprise answer.
Feeling like a champ, I moved on to the cartoon with an air of confidence and some pep in my step. Five young women were the main focus of this panel and they all had smiling faces and appeared to be super excited. Their happy mood was rather contagious and I couldn’t help but crack a smile as I worked out the solve. Reading the dialogue and sentence, we learn that the women are gymnasts and they just won a competition. The illustration was devoid of any fine detail, but none was necessary. The one simple action line behind the gymnast doing a backflip was key to the solve and I knew the solution instantly upon seeing it.
Writing out the clue letters, the P’s that I mentioned earlier were there giving us a layout that almost spells PEPTO FLUID. A quick crossing out of the letters confirmed my suspicion that FLIPPED OUT was indeed the answer leaving my jumbling duties finished for the day.
If the puzzle was a quick solve for you, please consider taking a moment to ask David L. Hoyt a question in the post at the top of the website. We’ve received some really good one’s and time is running out to get your submissions in. If you’ve already left a question, go ahead and leave a few more — the more the merrier! You surely won’t want to miss out on this unique opportunity. Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
