    I don’t think anyone ‘cept Lin knew what we had at hand.
    The musical exploded, and is until this day
    The biggest thing on Broadway, one of the greatest plays.
    And Lin-Manuel Miranda, MIGHTY voice with perfect PITCH
    Took what was just an INFANT thought and turned it into this.
    How funny the word BURRO contains one of the names
    That this song sung in our cartoon has brought back into fame.
    The pigs here seem so funny, on stage for their close-up,
    And what a cute pun, ’cause the Pigs just love to “HAM IT UP”🐷🐷

    At first glance, I never even saw today’s words. I was just so BACON with the image of Lin-Manuel Miranda portrayed as a pig! How Jeff managed to capture his essence in a pigs’ face is beyond me, but I recognized him right away. Ok, GRUNTed, the song and the Hamilton take-off helped, but SWILL, he makes it look so GREASY!…SOW: Today’s words, easy, breezy, and let’s just HOOF it on over…Hamilton took Broadway by storm. It HOGged the box office and became the HOTtest and most expensive ticket in town. And the song, “The Room Where It Happens”, from Act II, song by Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, and Leslie Odom, Jr, as Aaron Burr, is a piece of musical genius! If you’ve never heard it, Folks, give yourself a gift and PIG up a copy of the soundtrack. You won’t be BOARed, and I guarantee you, it’ll CURE your winter doldrums! So, our solution. Pretty CUT and FRY…The pigs loved to…”HAM IT UP”! Enough said! And the eye candy today? We have a goat, a cow, and a chicken. Which came first, I don’t know, but they all pale in comparison to Jeff’s depiction of Lin-Manuel. Without a SNOUT, it’s a gem! I have to HAM it to him, it’s just BACON me smile…So, there you have it, Folks, Done!

  4. The BURRO was not welcome on the cricket PITCH but when the onlookers saw the bowler”s INFANT son in the sidesaddle, a MIGHTY roar was heard.
    Clue words and solution were easily done today. I am having difficulty receiving e-mails again, and I suspect it is because I cleaned house on my computer and inadvertently did something to stop them. I’ll try to fix the problem, and until then Happy New Year everyone and if I disappear for a while, it will not be because of anything catastrophic–at least I hope so.

      I see your name disappeared also. You’re right, the cleaning house did it. It shouldn’t have, but for some reason with Word Press it always seems to happen. I hope you can get it back on track. You have no idea how gun shy I am when I do a purge, it’s really frustrating. I love your sentence today. You know I had to look up Cricket Pitch, and it’s an amazing use of today’s words!   5. Good morning. First off thanks for the swine performance on opening. Much more uplifting than the paper. Angela you are the queen of jumble. Glad I got this today,yesterday never came which was the second time this week. Today’s puzzle was a snap and especially enjoyed the cartoon answer. There was a couple of answers this week that for me was a let down. My friend even thought so too. Today left me with a big smile. Hope tomorrow we all end up on a good note for the year. Until then stay healthy.

    Thanks, Earl – I knew a soccer (football) field was a pitch, but didn’t know they used the same term for cricket.

    Angela, thanks for pointing out the HAMilton reference which I didn’t catch at first glance, being more of a Jefferson man myself 😉
    I’m sure their production was so successful they SAWBUCKS when tallying the box office.

    The words led me to one last Christmas reference:
    “Although he was born in a PITCH-insulated manger shared with a BURRO, the INFANT inspired a MIGHTY religion.”

    • Hi, Steve! I just had to say that I thought of you when I watched 4 minutes of hockey before changing the channel last night. I wish I had those 4 minutes back, lol!

      I also bought my nephew an autographed Charlie McAvoy puck for his birthday because he’s a huge Bruins fan. I tease him all the time by telling him that he should be a real sports fan and watch the Red Sox. He detests all sports except hockey for some reason.

      Oh, the page layout is going to change on New Year’s Day at some point. Don’t fret — it’ll most likely be one of the old ones. 🙃😉🙃

  9. Haven’t checked in for a few days. Had a houseful of Family for Christmas, then a surgery on the 28th. Merry belated Christmas to all!

    Easy puzzle today. Looking forward to the New Year when I can start using my new daily Jumble calendar. BTW, Mike, did I miss your big announcement?

    • Glad all is well, John, and Happy New Year! The announcement will come early next week. I’ve had my hands full while school’s out on vacation with day trips and activities. I’m really looking forward to sharing it. 😎👍🏻

    Santa Mike, great to hear from you today. The first cartoon answer word was easy for me because I am preparing HAM for New Years. We are having ham, blackeyed peas with ham, collard greens with bacon, and cornbread; all southern fare. Are you going out for Chinese food again? If you are, Jerry wants to go with you!!

    Steve, I read that during the Civil War, an area in the south got cut-off from the rest and they were starving until someone thought to eat the blackeyed peas they were growing to feed their livestock, which saved the day & began the tradition of eating blackeyed peas for New Year’s luck.

    • Hello, Lelia! We didn’t make any plans for NYE this year. It will most likely be very low key with a quick dinner out somewhere and a champagne toast at midnight. We have a hibachi style restaurant near us that never disappoints. Sushi has been on my mind since Jeff’s cartoon the other day so that’s an option as well.

      I cooked a ham for Christmas so I’m “hammed out”. But nothing beats warm cornbread with a pat (or two) of butter. 😋

      I’ve filled my bird feeder 3 times this week. They’re so hungry in this bitter cold. I don’t know if I shared with you that I put a bird bath heater in my bird bath this year and it’s working great. It was 3 degrees last night and the water wasn’t frozen at all! It’s so amazing to watch them get wet when it’s sooooo bitterly cold outside. I honestly have no idea how they can stand it.

      Have a beautiful New Year’s dinner, and please wish Josh (the New Years day baby) a very happy birthday from me.

    • Hi Lelia, good New Year food trivia! In all of our talk about Christmas birthdays, I’m sure I’ve never seen a New Year/Birthday combo card, but of course when I googled them, they do exist.

      The Chicago Blackhawks won in overtime last night which gave their goalie his first NHL win – notable because he was drafted in 2004 and was making his NHL debut after 13 years at age 32.

  11. No problems today. A farmer at the market wears a shirt with a similar theme – What happens in the barn, stays in the barn. She wears another good shirt that says “Will trade husband for tractor.” Best to all.

      • I’ve been OK, drove with family visitors to Toronto. Not the best weather to see Niagara Falls or the city. The Toronto Star newspaper carries the Jumble and on Friday had an insert with lots of puzzles, including the Jumble, Jumble crossword, jumble for kids, and TV jumble.

        • The weather is ridiculously cold, I agree. (We’ve talked about global warming). I can imagine how it must have felt at the Falls. And when the winds are blowing, one prays, am I right? But Toronto is so unbelievably beautiful, isn’t it? And the Poutine!! Have you had some? I’d travel there for that alone! On my first visit, I felt confident enough to try out my French, thinking it was safer than attempting it in France, if the day ever came. They had my picture up in most of the Poutine places, by the time I got back for my second visit….I’ve stuck to English ever since..!!! 😂😂
