CARTOON ANSWER:

YOU CAN BUY SHARES OF IBM BECAUSE THE EXCHANGE HAS PLENTY – – –

CSKITNO = IN STOCK

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday! The clue words all came instantly into view and were no problem at all. This is one one of those days where I’ll let our friendly Jumble panel pick the most difficult one. If I were a betting man, I’d be bullish on ICING.

The market is open and shares of JUMBLE are way up in early morning trading! David looks rather pleased as he monitors the exchange board with a smile. In case you weren’t able to make out the other three symbols, they were SDKO (Sudoku), XWORDS (Crosswords) and WRDSRCH (Wordsearch). Jeff illustrated the pit of this exchange perfectly with characters in trading jackets using handheld devices to conduct trades. Everyone seems calm and relaxed except for the man in the far right of the panel. With his hands up to his head and his mouth wide open, he seems shocked to see the value of his stock plummeting. My favorite detail in this piece was the dollar sign earring being worn by the woman partaking in the IBM trade. It could have easily been mistaken as part of her hair if you didn’t look close enough (see below).

The surprise answer consisted of 7-letters and I had a feeling that STOCK would be part of it. Writing out the letters, STOCK was indeed there leaving IN for the finish. There simply weren’t enough letters to make the letter layout difficult making this Jumble more suited for the novice player. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • The 2 letter locution threw me.I thought it was to or no but when I figured it was in,the 5 letter solution, stock came readily to mind.

      • Hey Chuck. Good morning. Glad to see you INVESTED a little time with us here today! Always nice when you stop BUY! (And “I” just fixed that for you…)
        Have a great day! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Hello, Chuck! I never took TO or NO into consideration this morning. I now see how one could easily go down that path with the letter layout. Thanks for filling us in. Enjoy the rest of your day, my friend. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  1. ๐ŸŽถYou’re lovin’ gives me a thrill…But you’re lovin’ don’t pay my bills…Now give me MONEY…That’s what I want. That’s what I want, yeah, That’s what I want..๐ŸŽถ

๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ Let’s talk about my Stockbroker…We have a good rapport
I used to think he checked me out when I walked through the door.
But then I realized that he was just adding in his head
The cost of my whole outfit…so he’d know before he said:
“You need to be more careful, try to SKIMP once in a while
The “ICING on the Cake” is not reflected in this file…
Stop always giving INVITEs, try tightening your belt…”
And then I had to tell him what it was I really felt:
“You’re here to make me money, and I do take your advice
But I pay you to work for me, so maybe be more nice…?
You know I like my parties, I like caNOODLEing…
I like the fun, the happy times, that all my friends can bring.
So let’s get down to business, let’s keep me out of hock…
Diversify the bonds for now…and put me more …”IN STOCK”! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Today’s words are nothing new, but they’re WORTHy of praise. Easy, breezy, and a nice MIX. So, on to our cartoon. Jeff PUTs us on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange. We see five traders, or four traders and Dave Hoyt moonlighting as one. The Stationary BIG BOARD is showing a lot of PAPER products! Jumble, Sudoku, Crosswords, and Word Search. Puzzles! The trader furthest right, must be the one heavily INVESTED in the three that are DROPPING, because he looks so UPSET! Do you think he does his puzzles in PENCIL? Maybe they also lost a few POINTS? OW JONES? Whatever…Anyway, the dialogue is showing that one broker wants to buy IBM, and the other has plenty to sell, because, it’s…WAIT for it.. IN STOCK! SOLD! Good one, Dave! I think I’ll SHARE it! Ok, eye candy. Hmm. What am I INTERESTed in today? Should I BUY into the belief that the only STOCK making a PROFIT is the JUMBLE? Can I AFFORD to be that naive? No, don’t BANK on it. I’ll PASS. Ok, then there’s the guy in the man bun with that distinctive look of a “real” person, but I don’t have the time to INVEST researching it. The GROUP does seem to like one another…like a “Feeling is MUTUAL FUND”, but that can just be my TAKE on it. Oh, I SEE it! I’m ZEROing in on the broker looking to BUY. Her earrings? DOLLAR SIGNS! COINy? Maybe, but it’s my PICK! It just seems MINT to be!
So, There you have it Folks, DUN!
Have a great day, Everyone! And remember…It’s ACCRUAL world out there at TIMES…So if you tell your broker to buy 2,000 shares of IBM, and he asks you how to spell it? Take my ADVICE…HOLD onto your MONEY…and SPLIT! ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  2. For the pot luck dinner, we did not want to INVITE those who in the past brought: cupcakes with no ICING, a NOODLE casserole with Limburger cheese or the lady whose habit was to SKIMP on the dip for her chips.
Good eye for all those details Mike—I could not see the $ ear ring in my paper and appreciate you drawing attention to it.
No trouble with scrambled words and a blind solve of IN STOCK. Happy Day.
Angela as usual provides us with a plethora of puns and plays with plenty of pedestrian passages that turn into precious gems.

    • Good Morning, Earl!
Pray tell, I can’t pretend that I’m not particularly pleased by your praise!
You perpetually prove to be a Prince among your peers!
Pardon me for pondering…but who did provide the portables for your pot luck party? Perhaps you didn’t get to partake at all! Perish the thought! I’m presuming some people had to be particularly peeved over the entire predicament! Pleasing everyone can be pretty precarious ploy…
Plenty of Thanks, Kind Sir! Have a pleasant day! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Youโ€™re welcome, Earl. And your line about Limburger cheese was hilarious. I never thought there would be a cheese in this world that I wouldnโ€™t like until I tried that one. So horrible! ๐Ÿคข

  3. Hi all – Actually NOODLE took a bit extra and INVITE took the longest – had to get INVENT out of my head first.

Couldnโ€™t that be the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange?
โ€œHello, Iโ€™d like to take my entire bank account and house and buy one Bitcoin future please.โ€ NOT! That would be WACKY (Chicago trivia).

Excuse me while I put some Limburger cheese on my Lutefisk sandwich and heat it up in the office microwave (DEPLOY GAS MASKS!!)

    Have a great day!

    • You made me laugh out loud with your post about the microwave and the office! Thanks Steve! ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

  4. Hi, Santa Mike et al! ICING!!! I got that one instantly, my old nemesis from more than 30 years ago that kept me working on the Jumble for more than half the day because I kept pronouncing it โ€œiking.โ€

Jerry talks to the TV during ball games so I spoke to that first Jumble clue word today reminding it that I now have its number and have had it the last 2 times it has been used recently. (2 years ago is recent to me)

    Just 4 more days!!!!

    • Iโ€™m so happy that you enjoyed my new photo, Lelia. I was getting bored with my old one and decided to get festive this afternoon. Iโ€™m currently waiting for my eye appointment to begin, so while I have a minute, I was happy to hear that Josh was able to take care of your technology issues. Oops the Dr is here, lol. Talk soon

  5. Good afternoon. Been busy running around early doing things before Christmas. Today’s puzzle was fun for me with noodle being the hardest word to get. It took a long second look. The cartoon was no problem. You guys were tops as always. When you have Limburger cheese, you have to have it on a good German black bread or pumpernickel bread with a little salt and pepper and very thin slices of red onion. Of course you have to have a cold iced glass of German beer. Now we’re talking. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Hi Paul. How’re you doing? Thank you.
So much to do, right! Be well, my Friend! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Iโ€™ll take your word on the cheese, Paul. But Iโ€™ll join you anytime for a cold German Beer! While on vacation in Munich we visited the Hofbrauhaus and it was a very interesting evening. Weโ€™ll save that story for later. ๐Ÿ˜‰
