TONKYT – KNOTTY

CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN THE BABY’S FIRST WORDS WERE ‘DA-DA…DA-DA’,

THE FATHER EXCLAIMED:

ONANORLYEUWIKT –         NOW, YOU’RE TALKIN’

Good Morning, Everyone!                👶🏻 WHO’S YOUR DADDY? 👶🏻

👶🏻👶🏻 A KNOTTY situation, spin or SWIVEL it what may
With an ACCENT on “You’re kidding me” on any given day.
For the young Mom who is tired, baby care all night and day
Her MORALE can take a crushing blow to hear her baby say…
“Da-Da” as his first word, after all that she has done
And then to get an EYEFUL of the smile on her husband.
He feels good and he’s gloating, but man, take into account…
The sound of “D” is quite often the easier to pronounce!
So the baby may not realize what a problem could begin…
When he’s making sounds and giving his Father that big grin.
And I’m left with the word OBLONG despite minutes just spent gawkin’…
This Mom is stressed, Dude, hug your wife…Yeah, ok “Now You’re Talkin'”👶🏻👶🏻

Sunday words. 6/6. A pause here and there? They didn’t stump me, but I SPACED them out, and I did blink once or twice. So, on to our cartoon. Jeff’s tribute to STAR WARS, which just opened in a theater near everyone. He’s giving us a new born, and two harried parents. No, wait. One harried parent. And one very happy parent. It seems Baby LUKE…(You know this is a set up, right? Jeff’s tongue in wayyyy into that cheek this morning..)! Baby Luke has said his first word, and..oh Mama, it ‘ain’t Mama! Ladies, how many of us have gone through this with our little STORM POOPERS? Total dedication, around the clock, and what do we get? We get to hear “Da-Da“. Talk about going SOLO! Talk about “R-you-2 kidding me”? Talk about...Obin-Wan CANNOT BE…ok, ok, enough…What do we see here? A Father obviously very taken with Star Wars. He’s dressed in a Star Wars Darth Vader T-shirt, there’s a Star Wars changing table, there’s a Star Wars mobile on the crib. Baby Luke is holding a toy PORG. The only thing not Star Wars related, is our poor Mom. She’s a blonde, with a purple shirt. Seriously, Ladies, where do you think these Jumble women shop? Maybe at the DARTH MAUL? Who knows…Anyway, the dialogue is telling us, that Luke’s first word, has impressed his Father, and the Fathers reaction is …”Right.., you got it right…”“NOW YOU’RE TALKIN'”! AT-AT a boy, Dave. YODAn a good job! Ok, so eye candy…Hmm…What is my bidding? I think I’ll go with the PORG. Something’s just FORCEing me to…
So, There you have it, Folks. It’s a FRAP!
Have a great day, Everyone! And whatever you do, don’t go looking for love in ALDERAN places…(And yea, yea...Luke…he IS your Father)! 👶🏻🙋🏻

  1. Good morning, Angela. I have brain freeze this AM. Problem with several CW’s, and solution. Have a great Sunday.

    • Good Morning, Big Guy! How’re you? You’re not alone. If it’s any CONSTELLATION, I did too. Not with the puzzle, but with the rest of this FRAP! No worries.. LUKE, it’s freezing outside…we’ll blame it on that!
Hoping you have a great Sunday, too. CC…😉 you later! 👶🏻🙋🏻

  2. Hi All – Fun post as always, Angela, and thanks for pointing out the references to Star Wars, which I didn’t get. After close to an hour on the puzzle, I decided to cheat some by looking at a list of contractions, since many weren’t coming to mind. I had thought of you’ll but not you’re, and that’s the word I needed to come up with the answer.

  3. Good Morning, Caroline. How’ve you been?
Thank you very much. This one was a stretch for me; Star Wars so not my forte. I’ve never seen any of the movies, so I just got by with the little I know. I went with the last word first, since I knew that single quotation mark was looking for slang. Brooklyn born and bred…I know slang! 😉 You used a good strategy with the contraction. I’m looking forward to the different means of solution I think we’ll get today. Busy time of year, right? I think next year I’ll start preparing at Labor Day!
Have a great day. Be well. 👶🏻🙋🏻

  4. I’m good, thanks. We don’t do a lot in the way of presents, so I’m not busy with that, but we do have family coming in. Wishing you and all a great day, too.

    • Glad you’re doing well! Great time of the year for catching up with family and friends. I’m a little..no, maybe a lot 😉 stressed, but it’s all worth it.🎅🏻 ..
      Enjoy your day!🙋🏻

  5. Good morning. Today’s puzzle was a real challenge. I got the words in this order. First was the 6th then 5th,2nd,1st,3rd and gave up on “eyeful” and the cartoon. Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday. A start of a new week. As usual stay well.

    • Hey Paul. Sorry to hear you were FORCEd to give up today. Not a problem, t’row there’ll be a new DAWN. Have a good day, my Friend! 👶🏻🙋🏻

  6. The OBLONG piece of KNOTTY pine was an EYEFUL that caused the woodcarver’s head to SWIVEL and when he heard the familiar ACCENT of the customer, his enthusiasm and MORALE knew no bounds.
Clue words gave me little difficulty today. although EYEFUL took longer than the others. Solution to the cartoon was a different matter. Struggled mightily and finally called for help, by telephone, from an old friend and fellow Jumble solver. He gave me a hint which lead to the answer. Also gave HIM bragging rights over me—but my revenge will come. As they say it’s best served cold.
Great Post Angela and I’m relieved to know that I was not alone in my Sunday struggles and seeming stupidity.

    • Hi Earl. Thank you very much. Let’s go on record saying there’s no stupidity here, seemingly or not. The solution today was a bit of a poser, since it included both the contraction and the slang use of the word talking. Your sentence, a keeper! And as soon as I saw Knotty this morning, I thought knotty pine! How funny that you used it in your sentence. As for your friend, the bragging rights, and the revenge…Oh Baby! I don’t know what to say…And that’s not like me! 😂😂 Have a great day, Earl! 👶🏻🙋🏻

  7. I got hung up on “morale” for some reason. We’ve seen “oblong” & “eyeful” before but they always look weird to me when jumbled. Figured out that the contraction probably was “you’re” so that was okay. Thought the first word might be “kid” since there was a K but not D so had to rethink the cartoon answer. All in all I found it a fun puzzle. Happy Sunday everyone and hope you folks in the middle and the east of the country stay warm.

    • H Betty. Most likely we’ve seen all of today’s words before, but the anagrams today are exceptionally well done. Kid was a good guess, I never even considered that. It was a fun puzzle, and a good solution, albeit well camouflaged! Thanks for the well wishes, and I think I speak for a lot of us in saying that the cold you can always deal with…It’s that dreaded 4-letter word that’s makes us crazy….S⛄️⛄️W!! 😂
      Have a great day! 👶🏻

  8. Hi all – That was a fun puzzle today, and I assume Mike’s in hog heaven. If that’s Luke, where’s his twin sister? EYEFUL took an extra look, but MORALE took the longest. The quotes in the answer were confusing. It took awhile to figure out whether they meant a pun, or as is the case, two contractions (which it appears his wife had recently.)

In fact, MORALE took so long that you’re subjected to this:
I think that for lunch, I’ll prepare a really decadent Italian-style mushroom dish with tomato GRAVY and wine – an AMORAL MOREL-MORRELL ROMAN MEAL. Then afterwards, I’ll get rid of the garlic smell with my air freshener, “Arrivederci AROMA.”

    Have a great day!

    • 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ Note how I’m starting off! 3 hands to face! The Amoral tirade is amoral! And it’s out there somewhere, because we’ve used it. I’m going to check with Lou…This could be plagiarism! 😂😂😂 I like the Aroma, no pun intended! I don’t know if the solution was confusing as it was different. There’s only one contraction though, no? Despite your obsession today with childbirth! 😂 Do you consider the slang usage to be a contraction? I think that’s what may have thrown things off a bit. And yes, all the Star Wars aficionados are happy today! May the FORCEPS be with you! 🤦🏻‍♀️

        • Angela – If you hadn’t mentioned “Runaway” in the Usain Bolt Jumble, I never would have been reminded of Norton Buffalo and thence Paul Butterfield. Thanks a bunch! ❤️🙋🏻‍♂️
