Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! David sure is giving us a brain workout with these 5-letter Jumbles. BEGUN gave quite a few of you some degree of difficulty yesterday, while IMPEL would be my pick for the most difficult anagram today.

Jeff sends us back to school again with a drawing that features two men and two women that are having conversations amongst themselves. In yesterday’s cartoon, we saw a primary/middle school setting whereas today it seem’s to be more of a high school or college lecture hall. With encouragement from his friend, the young man decides that it’s the right time to break the ice and introduce himself to the beautiful young lady in the front row. The two young women are already privy to his his long glances and what happens next will remain a mystery left to play out in our own imaginations.

The answer for this puzzle featured a 2-letter word in quotes followed by a 5-letter word. HI was immediately visible as it was coupled neatly together in the letter layout. HOPES was a quick solve with the remaining letters giving us a very “punny” surprise answer. Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow! 🙂

    • …or perhaps “longING glances.” 🎵”Worn out phrases and longing gazes
Won’t get you where you want to go, no!”🎵

        • 🎵”PAPA do ron day ron day, do ron day ron day
do ron day ron day ooh.
HE’s got it bad for the New Girl In School! ”🎵

          • ROTFL!!!! Yea, the Big POPPA! We can’t do this here….🎶The chicks are jealous…🎶🤦🏻‍♀️

  1. 🎶’But he’s got HI HOPES, he’s got HI HOPES, he’s got HI apple pie in the sky hopes…”🎶

❤️ ❤️The thought of being SPURNed I’m sure has kept many a man
From seeing past his shyness and approaching a woman
BEFORE he does he’d like to think that she’ll not turn him down
The smile that we’re seeing could easily be a frown…
A friend IMPELs another to go and take a chance
To meet the girl, and maybe get a shot at true romance
It could be the beginning, one never knows for sure
That leads to vows like “better, HEALTH”, and there’s a couple more…
I’m jumping way ahead of course…A wedding or elope?
Hey, all it takes is this guy giving in to his “HI HOPES”.❤️❤️

We’ve seen BEFORE before, and SPURN isn’t Prune or Purse, despite the minds eye always seeking an E. Always SEEKING…My segue into today’s cartoon. A classroom setting, albeit unlike y’day, at a HI-er level. A man seeking love. A woman, blonde and dressed in purple…🎶Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and…(I’ll cease)..🎶 (But, you catch my drift)…And he’s trying to CATCH her eye. There’s a friend giving encouragement. Our boy’s gaining confidence…He’s thinking about it, he wants “to say hello”, he’s hoping…He’s got…”HI” HOPES! Well, HELLO, Dave! How cute is this? Right to the HEART of the matter! Ok, eye candy. Hmm. Nothing MEETS the eye. I’m not PICKing UP on anything. I’m looking at the faces. A young Jeff and Kathy? No, his jawline, her hair…not a MATCH. The friend looking like Chumlee from Pawn Stars? No, I couldn’t really sell that…All we have is a smart PHONE and a PEN..Nothing to CALL or WRITE home about…Nope. No eye candy today. It’s a BLIND DATE…
So, there you have it Folks, Done!
Have a great day, Everyone! And remember…Maybe you shouldn’t kiss on January 1st…After all, it’s just the FIRST DATE! ❤️🙋🏻

  2. Those who SPURN advice about HEALTH should think carefully BEFORE the need arises to IMPEL them to have drastic procedures later.
Easy solve today–sans need to write anything out. As usual, the prefix of IMPEL slowed me down but loved the solution.
As Angela pointed out so cleverly, cartoon brought back memories of Sinatra’s “High Hopes.” and the 1960 campaign song for JFK.
Bright , sunny day and an unexpected bonus for usually dreary November. Enjoy.

    • Good morning, Earl. Thank you. 🎶🎶 It immediately put an “ANT” in my ear….Creative use of today’s words. Kudos! Enjoy! ❤️🙋🏻

  3. Had a blind solve on the puzzle, unusual for one with quotation marks, but had to back into impel! The rest of the words were a breeze.

  4. Hi all – I’ll play the dummy today. SPURN and the answer were the only things that didn’t cause a pause. The rest took longer for some reason, especially the third word. How about a sentence of wrong answers for just one word? “I HALTED the LETHAL LATHE to preserve my HEALTH.”

Bright and sunny today, and I’m off to do errands. Have a great day.

        • “Current-borne, wave-flung, tugged hugely by the whole might of ocean, the JELLYfish drifts in the tidal abyss”….Opening line…Just sayin’ Jelly Roll 😂🙋🏻

          • And here you said you didn’t follow sci-fi. 😉 That was the first show I ever recorded on VHS in 1980 from the PBS special (still got it, of course.)

            • I don’t follow it. I don’t enjoy it. But, like I said y’day, I can speak on a lot! 😉And there’s a story behind this….🙋🏻

  5. Hi, all! I heard myself say something funny as I gobbled my egg & toast. I said, “Hmm. The cartoon answer isn’t coming to me so I’ll have to cheat and do the words first.”

That’s not cheating!! That’s the way it’s supposed to be done. I’m just spoiled rotten with solving the cartoon first.

I am impelled to report that IMPEL was my most time-consuming word today but happy to hear that I was in very good company with it.

Mike, I liked it that you mentioned the encouragement of the man’s friend. Shy ones need a little help. The day that shy Jerry first asked me to ice skate with him, his sociable sister-in-law had skated over to me, told me she was going to encourage Jerry to ask me to skate, and wanted to know if I would please say yes.

    Steve, happy errand running!

And a happy Tuesday to all!!!

      • Hi, Steve! Thank you for telling me that you thought of my ice skating story. Your words brightened up my day of laundry & boring but necessary phone calls involving a lot of being on hold.

    • Way to go, Big Guy…Let there be lights! Doing mine t’row. We’re having great weather here..Maybe I shouldn’t say that, huh? 😂 Enjoy your night…❤️🙋🏻

  6. Good evening. Nothing to report as the paper never came. Either the guy didn’t deliver or the subscription ran out. I’ll check tomorrow. I might be on a sabbatical for awhile. Until then care care and stay healthy.
