Good morning everyone and happy Thursday! PIVOT was the only word that came instantly into view. I had to think about the other three with PIGLET being to most difficult anagram for me to decipher. Overall the clue words were a great challenge and well matched for a Thursday puzzle.

Day #4 of Guest Jumbler week brings us a panel by Jason Chatfield who is the artist for Ginger Meggs. Many of our Australian visitors will immediately recognize the drawing of the Perth native. Ginger Meggs is the most syndicated Australian comic strip, appearing in over 120 newspapers in 34 countries (but unfortunately not here in New Hampshire).

After reading the dialogue and sentence, we clearly see a caffeine-dazed kangaroo hanging from a tree branch. As Benny inquires as to why Meggs would do such a thing, the mischievous 10-year old shrugs his shoulders in a gesture that implies both guilt and regret. The look on the kangaroos face was priceless and drawn brilliantly by Mr. Chatfield.

The letter layout was very good, but the abundance of P’s gave me the answer immediately. UP was the obvious two letter word leaving HOPPED to be found almost equally as fast. That’s all for today, my friends. Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

    Why would he give a Roo coffee, making the Roo flip his lid…?
    Cute little boy with hair like a PLUME, goes by the name Ginger Meggs
    Why is a child as young as he drinking coffee down to the dregs…?
    Where’s Gingers dog, his name’s Tony…such a cute name for a pet…
    (Speaking of which here’s a great place to get rid of the word PIGLET)
    That leaves me with DRENCH, an apt word today,
    We’re having lighting and thunder…
    And Jason Chatfield our Guest Jumbler comes to us from the Down Under…
    An Aussie artist, and comedian too, I’ve seen him perform a few times
    I’m ending it here, I’m not HOPPED UP today, and that’ll be it for the rhymes! ☕️

    Piglet. I’m starting with Piglet. Have we seen Piglet before? Is it a word that’s easily recognizable? Besides while reading Winnie the Pooh, where would a city girl see this compound word? Good questions. And good words today, Dave. JUMPING over to our cartoon, we see two little boys. Benny, and Ginger Meggs, who’s just given a Kangaroo some coffee. By the Roo’s reaction, I’m thinking Decaf may have been the better way to go. Look at him…He’s HOPPED UP! But I’m also still thinking why is a little kid drinking coffee? WALLABY next? Cocktails at 5? Hmm. Anyway, I’ve never heard of Ginger himself, but living in NYC, I’ve seen Jason Chatfield at Comedy Clubs. Eye candy today? Has to be the maniacal look on the kangaroos face…Again…Think Decaf!
    So, there you have it, Folks! Done!

  3. Mama sow made a rapid PIVOT in the sty and a PLUME of muddy water DRENCHed one unfortunate PIGLET.
    Easy solve for me today–no pen or paper needed. Love it when that happens.
    Not familiar with today’s guest cartoonist or the cartoon. Always glad to learn something each day.
    I thought about incorporating “kangaroo” in my sentence but got STYmied and stuck with the pig motif. But Angela always finds a way to use cartoon features in her posts so we are covered.

  4. Good morning. Had no problem with the words today. Pretty much an instant read. When I got to the cartoon the first thought was hyped. But no Y and too few letters to fill the space. When I put down the letters from the four words it was obvious what the answer was. All this before my second cup of coffee. I have to use paper and pen because by the time I finished the last word I usually forgot what I had for the first. Angela did you read Mutts today. It had me laughing out loud. I don’t know,maybe it’s my weird sense of humor. But I’d put Mutts above all others. Mans or Ladies best friend usually makes me smile every day. Until tomorrow stay well

    • I figured out UP after looking at and reading the cartoon. HOPPED was a great choice for a kangaroo! I also liked the artists signature on the panel. It was a nice touch and great penmanship. 😊

  7. Hi all – No problem with words or answer. The CH trick worked for DRENCH.

    Men at Work, Land down under, Brussels (sprouts?), Vegemite sandwich — There must be a pun or sentence in there somewhere but I’ll be darned if I can see what it is and I have to go for my yearly physical this morning, so “Everybody! Finish my post for me!” 😉

  10. Hi, all! Easy solve of the words & cartoon. The one word that I didn’t “hop” or “leap” right into was PIGLET, as in your solve, Mike.

    Australia is one of the 2 places we never made it to in our planned travels, the other being Alaska, but we have bookshelves bursting with albums of fun memories, so we did just fine.

    I also don’t know much about kangaroos so no story today. I’ll have to wait for the camel to be mentioned. Then you’ll have to hear about when I rode on a camel in Egypt.

      I sure hope we make it to Australia some time soon. It’s also on our “must see” list. We’ve been blessed to have been able to cross off quite a few European countries over the past couple of years. I bet your photos are amazing. 😊😊😊

  12. Hi – Piglet didn’t bother me because I remembered struggling with it the last time. It’s one of the few clue words that has made me smile.

First of all, I had already googled Maggi and discovered that the one you told me about is called simply “Seasoning,” but your addendum to me was beneficial in telling me to check for the Product of Germany label. I’ll be sure to do that. Our foodie daughter informed me that I have already eaten Maggi Seasoning at her house many times and to look for it in the International Foods aisle.

    Second, hope you passed your annual physical “test” with straight “A’s.”

    Thanks again for the Graham Nash song. First time I’ve heard his soft voice.

    Drat! I was going to tell you my “out of the ceiling” songs at Denny’s but I wrote the titles on the back of my check which I forgot they keep at the register when they issue you a new one with your AARP discount when you show your card. The only one I remember is a bad rendition of Tequila with a squeaky horn. Nothing like Herb Alpert.

    Thanks for the report that you and Jerry were fashion mavens in your Levis. I bought Levis for him for more than 40 years beginning with $10 per pair at Yellow Front and ending with $50 per pair at Sears. Then I discovered Rustler jeans at Walmart for $10, which I was sure he’d hate, but the zipper is easier on his arthritic hands. Unlike you in your stylish Converse sneakers, he wears New Balance because they had his triple-W width. He needs new tennis shoes!!

    Rain, rain, go away while Steve is trying to get to the doctor & back. I used to love driving in the rain. See ya’ soon.
