TUGRN = GRUNT

ABSIS = BASIS

CFEETF = EFFECT

NDAYIT = DAINTY

THE HOME RUN DIDN’T SURPRISE THE HITTER ONE BIT.  HE DID IT WITHOUT —

GNTBAIEETANY = BATTING AN EYE

Good morning and happy Wednesday everyone!  The clue word choices were easily solved this morning.  DAINTY did take just a few extra seconds to figure out and would be my pick for the most difficult anagram to decipher.  Jeff brought us back to the ballpark once again for another exciting baseball themed cartoon where you can almost hear the crack of the bat and see the ball headed out of the park.  The coaches in the dugout are visibly delighted by the impressive swing while the batter maintains his equanimity and prepares to round the bases.  The final solution came instantly after reading the dialogue and sentence to complete this Wednesday morning gem.  Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

New York Comic Con is this weekend and Jumble cartoonist Jeff Knurek will be there!  Be sure to stop by and say hello if you plan on attending.  He’ll be offering this AMAZING collector’s edition puzzle book that is a must have for any Jumble fan.  I won’t be able to make it, but hopefully he’ll be offering it for sale on the Jumble website if he has any left.  Let us know if you go, and be sure to tell him you found out about it from your friends at JumbleAnswer.com!  🙂

  1. Good morning. On the way to A/C with church group. Today’s puzzle was a breeze except for dainty. I went to the cartoon and hit a home run right away. Knowing the letters I needed I got the last word rather quick. Now if only my luck continues at A/C. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Best of luck on the trip, Paul! Excellent job with the solve and it sounds like you’re in for a great day. Be sure to let us know if your winning streak continued. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻 🍀 🎰

      • Thank you. I will. Last time I joked to the people if this was the bus to the senior citizen home. Gotta wear sun glasses because you could get snow blindness from all the white hair. It’s a fun time. The people are nice.

  2. Hey, Mike. Good morning. Striking out two days in a row..no Email. Love your post, and I think it’s for you..They’re wearing red! ⚾️🙋🏻

  3. The EFFECT of the little girl’s DAINTY GRUNT on the family dog was the BASIS for her parents submitting the video to a TV show.

    Agree that the clue words caused no difficulty and the solution was a “walk-off” after looking at the cartoon—“look” in the coaches’ conversation and the large eyes of the batter. and the three word answer. Great cartoon with the matching jerseys, shoes, etc. An appropriate one in view of MLB play-offs.
    I haven’t read Angela’s post yet, but I am looking forward to another pun-filled parade of positively parabolic paragraphs, resulting in paroxysms of groans and laughter.

    • Good morning, Earl. I’ve been feeling horrid over Las Vegas. My heart is so broken. But I had to smile at your astounding and absolutely adorable alliterative accomplishment! So, for you…
      Today, your sentence brings to mind: A lovable little lass, loquacious as always, laughing loudly, through lips wet with licorice, as she lovingly lavishes kisses upon the little, leaping, licking lapdog who languishes in a lambert of non-latrant legerity! Yes, that’s what it brought to mind!
      I didn’t go for the laughs in my post today, the puns aren’t plentiful. But I hope you enjoy it just the same. Here’s to better days…🐶 🙋🏻

      • Love all those LLLLLLs. I must admit you used a word I am not familiar with, so it’s off to Webster’s to learn something. Thanks!!! Chin Up and don’t let the b——-s get you down.

        • Dare I say LOL? You’re quite welcome.You literally bring out the “L”iterary in me! ..I thought you’d gone already, so I left you another post. Thanks for the encouragement, but I’m struggling. Good luck today. 🙋🏻

      • Earl, ONE word you’re not familiar with? “Lambert of non-latrant legerity”? Put me down for three! I know Adam Lambert, but that’s about it.

  4. ⚾️⚾️ Going for the long ball is every players quest,
    But only a select few are ever called the best.
    A Home Run is a thriller, the crowd gets to its feet
    The batter ALWAYS looks above towards the upper seats.
    In hitting the “high hard one” you can’t be just blasé
    You have to feel adrenaline…can’t be another way…
    So maybe it comes easy, and maybe some don’t sweat…
    But batters who don’t feel the thrill? I haven’t seen them yet…⚾️⚾️

    Today’s words have been PITCHED to us before. Maybe a little CHANGE UP on the scrambling, but you didn’t need to BAT AN EYE going through them. I just SWUNG by them for INSURANCE, because just a GLANCE at the cartoon allowed the solution to POP UP today. My EYES were on the prize, the cartoon. The drawing says it all. Jeff gives us a Home Run hitter for the Jumble Baseball team. He focuses on the players’ EYES and the exaggerated, nonchalant glance. “Look at that” and “doesn’t even phase him”, the dialogue spoken by his teammates, just BRINGS IT HOME. He did it without..”BATTING AN EYE”. Great pun, and today’s puzzle is a gift! One of those puzzles that just serves up the solution on a silver platter…I mean PLATE! Oddly enough, we had a Home Run hitter just this past Saturday. I guess Jeff’s sharing with us his love of the game, because “batting an eye” could have gone another way. We could have been given flying mammal bats, and a blonde in purple blinking rapidly in an effort to avoid them. Or a blonde Mother, dressed in purple, walking with her young son past a sports equipment shop featuring Baseball bats. He’s staring wide eyed, but she’s not even…You get the idea. But for Jeff to HIT on the HOME RUN theme again, within four days, I think he’s showing his true COLORs. They’re Red. Just Sayin’…! Today’s eye candy goes to the netting behind the plate. With that Jeff, you definitely HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK!
    So there you have it, Folks! Have a great day, and keep your EYE on the BALL! ⚾️🙋🏻

    • As I said, I knew you wouldn’t disappoint Angela. Great Poem, Great Puns and Great Post.
      Have a GREAT day. I’m off to volunteer today to try and encourage people to enroll in Donate Organ, Tissue, Eye programs. Later.

      • Earl. Our replies “crossed in the mail”. Thank you, and when you get back you’ll see what I posted for you. Very noble cause, I admire your dedication. Wishing you a successful day. 🙋🏻

    • No, Moose, he didn’t. Jeff’s obviously not a Yankees fan…But there’s still Joy in Mudville after last night…😉
      My settings are all off, so I’m not getting any emails…but I left you a msg on IOW. Wishing you a great day too. ⚾️🙋🏻

  5. Easy breezy this morning. Had the puzzle solved first, and walked right through the clue words without hesitation.

    Was a heck of a wild card game last night. Apologies to the locals here, but I was pulling for the Twins.

    Make it a great day!

  6. Lots of us seemed to have been temporarily held up by DAINTY. Otherwise it was smooth sailing.
    Still hoping I will soon be able to Like some of these clever Comments instead of encountering the WordPress application form. ☹

    • Don’t hold your breath on the “like” button, Denny. It’s been like that since I’ve been here. You can still leave a 5-start vote for the overall site with the “Rate this” up at the top.
      I’m glad to see you here more often; I always like reading your posts.

    • Sorry that it’s a problem, Denny. If you create an account, I believe it all goes away. I hope you create one because it would be nice to hear a fresh perspective. 🙂👍🏻

  7. Easy time today with the puzzle words and cartoon, but my heart is so heavy. The wife of one of the police officers in our neighborhood station was killed in Las Vegas. They have a thirteen year old daughter and a ten year old son. It’s so sad and senseless. Hoping for better days.

    • Betty: “I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness.” -Emily Dickinson…..We are all sisters. My heart shares your sadness. 💔 . Prayers for better days. Be well.

    • So sorry to hear that, Betty. One can’t make sense of something so tragic and evil. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims and their families as well as to the first responders. I hope your community comes together to help support that Officer’s family through all of this. So unbelievably sad…

  8. Had a hard time figuring out the new format. When did you do that? Dainty was a stumble but rest was SNAP!

    • You’re very welcome, Betty. She’s been one of my favorites also, since childhood. The words were written years ago to my Mother after she lost one of her younger sisters. They’ve remained with me. Take care. 💔🙋🏻

  9. Hi, all! Fried egg & grits eaten. Jumble completed easily.

    Betty, hearing about your police officer with 2 young children! So sad.

    Angela, I’m still grieving with you about Las Vegas. Breaks my heart.

    Mike, it made me sad in May to hear that you did not get to attend the Giant Jumble Event in Chicago and now not attending the New York ComicCon. I surely hope you get a copy of that special little booklet.

    Steve, I am leaving right now for a dermatologist apt so will apologize now that I will probably tell you every burning, cutting detail.

  10. Hi all – Actually, EFFECT took an extra look, then DAINTY a bit more.

    My favorite piece of the picture was the spectator managing to make himself noticed by holding up his “We’re #1” gesture WAY up in the farthest corner of the stands. Hope springs eternal.

    When I saw the big “J” on the batter’s shirt, I just assumed it would be Aaron Judge, but I see it’s not.

    Have a good day, everyone. The seasons are turning, so “Go Sharks!”

    • Steve. Remember our first conversation about Judge months ago? About how humble he was? And he stayed that way, thankfully. He’d never be so blasé! And then you saw the Red, right? (I do think Jeff had someone in mind, don’t you)? ⚾️🙋🏻

      • You know how off the colors are in the Chronicle. It’s more of a burgundy. Maybe it’s from Players’ Weekend! 😉🙋🏻‍♂️

        • Yes, your colors are off a little. But I thought you checked on line for the puzzle. And what about the catchers mitt hanging in the air behind the batter? That’s odd, huh? ⚾️🤦🏻‍♀️

  11. Hi, Steve, Angela, & Mike for your comments to me while I slept until just now after dermatologist. Tomorrow is grocery shopping and pest control guy, but I’ll comment when I can. In the meantime, go San Jose Sharks and congrats Red Sox.

    • Thanks for remembering that I’m a Red Sox fan, Lelia! You’re the only one that’s congratulated me and it means a lot that you took the time to do so. Have a wonderful day! 🙂

      • It just seemed so routine now Mike, I hardly noticed! 😉 AL East champs two years in a row? The congrats will have to wait for greater victories to come.
        Congrats to the Giants for avoiding losing 100!

        • Ha Ha Ha!!! It was a hard fought battle but my guys got their job done. Excited for the game tonight, but not getting my hopes up. The pennant win was a plus and I’m glad my son got to watch them win with me. 🙂
