CARTOON ANSWER: THE CLASSIC VINYL ALBUMS WERE SELLING FOR:

CROREIDERCPS – – RECORD PRICES

Good morning, Everyone….

๐ŸŽถ”Oh yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, Now I need a place to hide away….Oh I believe in yesterday. Suddenly, I’m not half the girl I used to be,ย There’s a shadow hanging over me….Oh yesterday came suddenly…”๐ŸŽถ

5AM…Brooklyn, NY. Watching images of Texas being ravaged by Hurricane Harvey. There isn’t enough coffee this morning. Jeff, I wish it was any other day, because this cartoon is a Gold Mine. What I could do with this…And maybe I will another day, but not today….

Except for a slight tic at DEVOUR, today’s words posed no challenge. Our cartoon. Jeff’s in a Record Store, (is that the correct terminology), questioning the cost of the vintage Beatles album, Yesterday and Today. ( I think it’s the infamous Butcher Cover…) Last week it went for 4 Grand, today it’s 5. The proprietor is obviously a man Jeff knows, and he tells Jeff that this vinyl is selling for RECORD PRICES. What a GREAT pun. But the eye candy today is the entire panel. Jeff’s a singer-song writer, who plays guitar. Posted on the desk, is a flyer announcing the upcoming acts at a Chicago Rock Club named Lounge Ax. The details are amazing. These are the acts: Wilco, The Blisters, (which features a member whose Father is a Wilco artist and whose Mother is an owner of the Lounge), New Duncan Imperials, ย Poi Dog Pondering, (Remember them)? The Bishops, and JEFF KNUREK! How cool is that? Jeff’s wearing his signature Wilco T-shirt. (That color looks good on you, Jeff). The proprietor’s holding that classic Led Zeppelin album from 1969, while wearing a Clash shirt. There’s a sticker for the Ramones, one for Poi, and one for 93 XRT, an alternative radio station in Chicago. It goes on and on. This is one of Jeff’s best. Talk about chomping at the bit, the possibilities here are endless. But not today…
๐ŸŽถYesterday…all my troubles seemed so far away…๐ŸŽถ My heart is broken for Texas and the Gulf area states. My thoughts and prayers are with them. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
To better days, for Everyone….๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  1. Would love to see you read all the things you see in the Jumble pic in our local paper. Devour ate my lunch for a few minutes. It is one of those hated 3 vowel words.

    • Oh, Mort, apologies. It’s usually Moose who responds so early in the morning, so I thought it was him, becoming Anonymous again. Every once in a while our names seem to disappear. Nice to meet you, and good line with devour. Take care, and visit us again. No card needed, we’re bi-partisan here.๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Ah, There you are. Good morning. Yep, the closer. Closed the lights on the game, that’s for sure. Guess the quick fix Joe thought he did didn’t work out too well, huh? Lousy loss. But, 0 for 11 RISP? With CC doing so good of a job? And the leg up with Boston losing that football game? So many questions….๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

        • Hey Moose. I’m going to reply on IOW. I don’t want to get baseball all over this page! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Too bad for you that the offense wasted a great outing by CC, but good for Seattle. Today’s another day!

Easy puzzle for me today. Had the answer first and all of the words jumped out at me!

        • Hi, John. Yea, I remember reading once that you needed both offense and defense to win a game! ๐Ÿ˜‰ CC was amazing. Mike came on looking for you after you left. He wanted to thank you from the Red Sox Nation. He got stomped last night. 16-3? He probably had nightmares.
So, another game, coming up right about now. Have a good one.
          See ya on deck!
And, yes. Another piece of cake puzzle. Be well. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  2. On the university CAMPUS most of the archeology students went on line to DEVOUR the latest information about the RELIC –an ancient CROSS found on a dig lead by the head of their department.
No problems with clue words or the solution. First time in days that I did not need a pen! Thanks Angela for sharing the lyrics iof one of my favorite Beatles’ songs. Most of the rest of your references about items in the cartoon were way beyond anything I had any knowledge of. So I need to do some reference work sometime.
Thoughts and hopes for safety for all those along the Gulf Coast. Please go away Harvey. I’d make some kind of joke about the imaginary Harvey but it doesn’t seem appropriate.

    • Good morning, Earl. When I first heard “Harvey” a day or two ago, I thought the Rabbit, too, and the Honeymooners episode about Bensonhurst. But that sure took a turn. That Beatles album was golden with good music, but I picked Yesterday because it just seemed to fit this morning. Beautiful song, one of my favorites also. Your sentence, as always is a gem. You have an amazing imagination, Sir. We have such beautiful weather, right? Hard to put into prospective with what’s happening in the Gulf. Hope you get to enjoy what we’re blessed with today! Ciao…๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  3. Good morning. The only word that gave me grief was relic. Took a couple of minutes to get. The cartoon answer was a snap. I give you props Angela. I look at the picture and I get nothing of what you obtain out of it.Maybe it’s because they are not even in my collection. Least favorite group. For other reasons than their voice of which I choose not to get into. Until tomorrow stay well. My prayers are out to Texas.

    • Good morning, Paul. Relic? It is a rather obscure word. But with all the Catholic school education in my background, the word just pops right into my mind! LOL…Thanks for the shout out, I do love the details So,not a Beatles fan? And you’d rather not get into it? Boy, you’ve piqued my interest! Good luck on the Bocce court, and yes, Prayers for Texas. You stay well too. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  4. It was relic for me – had to back in and jumble on paper. I ‘m really impressed with how Earl is able to keep coming up with his coherent, erudite and often funny sentences.

    • Good morning, ๐ŸŽถSweet Caroline๐ŸŽถ Where have you been? Noticeably absent. Another vote for relic. It may get buried today! Earl amazes me also. The man is a Gentleman AND a scholar. Rare find, right? Please visit more often…Enjoy the day! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Hi Angela, I had to have a little fan replaced in my computer, which I hope keeps it going. Gentleman and a scholar really does describe Earl. I hardly ever think of the word erudite but it just popped into my mind reading his sentences. Best day to you and all.

        • Hi Caroline.. I hope it does too. Fingers crossed. Yep, that’s Earl, IMHO. And he rides a bike! The man’s a keeper. Isn’t it great when the most obscure words just pop into your head? Like getting a little gift! That’s how I look at it…Earl, are you reading this? You give us a little gift every morning! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Hoping you’re enjoying the best day, too! Be well. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
I’m typing real fast on commercial. Excuse any typos…

    • You had me on erudite. Had to look up the meaning. I obtained a four year degree in college only because the military gave me $350 a months to go. Needed the extra money for my family. When the funds ran out I had a year to go so I only laid out a thousand dollars to complete my degree. I’m getting an education just reading everybody’s comment.

      • Paul, I think some of the most erudite people comment here. You’re included. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And I for one, Sir, commend you on your service and sacrifice. And thank you. The Greatest Generation. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Hi Joy. My paper prints the Jumble in color every day. For a larger image, you can go on line to post star.com They print the Jumble, 7 days a week, and you can enlarge the picture to get all the amazing details Jeff offers. Thanks for commenting. Enjoy your day! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  5. Hi all – I thought the word was OVERDUE, but when it didn’t fit the answer I realized it was DEVOUR.
Ah, what a wonderful wealth of detail Jeff has given us! He *must* have known how obsessively we were going to pick apart EVERY. LAST. PIXEL!
Eye candy? Well, there’s the fact that I missed that those are the Marina Towers in Chicago on the cover of Wilco’s “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” – I used to live within a couple of miles of those. And I love that the Velvet Underground’s album says “with Nico” and has Andy Warhol’s name. But my favorite? The fact that both those albums are correctly filed in the “U-Z” section in the rack!

The other fun thing for me is that I had almost this exact experience in a, yes Angela, RECORD STORE in San Jose. There was an ordinary looking copy of “Yesterday and Today” for around $800, and I cluelessly asked why so much, and he pointed out that hidden beneath was the original “Butcher Block” cover.

And Lelia! Check out the album that the clerk is holding! “It’s NOT A BALOON, IT’S AN AIRSHIP, AN AIRSHIP!!” A LED ZEPPELIN, to be precise!

    • Good eye, Grasshopper! And please refrain from stealing my signature phrases. I’m going to have to trademark the “Eye Candy”, huh? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I’ll think of something else for you, on the house…๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. Angela and Caroline– thank you for your kind words, they are greatly appreciated. I look forward to the Jumble every day and have for years. Finding this site, and the amazing people who post has become my daily dessert with no weight gain whatsoever! ๐Ÿ˜˜ ๐Ÿฐ ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿจ

    • You’re very welcome. Great analogy! We’re sweets for the sweet! ๐Ÿ˜‰ You’re a kind, sweet man! And you know how much I look forward to your post each morning. Now you have to try to make it here on Sunday’s! Be well ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Speaking of daily dessert, though, I just noticed we’ve had a big helping of POI two days in a row now (admittedly, only in our comments yesterday).

  7. Hi, all! Had the cartoon answer as I read the sentence. RELIC was easy for me, but I join whoever had to take a second look at DEVOUR.
Angela, I did what you told Joy & entered โ€œPost Star.com Jumble.โ€ Wow! When I clicked the cartoon picture, it got huge! Thanks so much.
Steve, thanks for pointing out the Led Zeppelin album cover for me. Itโ€™s NOT A BALLOON!! LOL
Angela, when I first got on this site, Mike was calling the details โ€œEaster Eggs,” which I liked a lot. I like your โ€œEye Candy,โ€ too.
Four thoughts: Divine Details, Magnificent Minutiae, Marvelous Minutiae, Pleasing Particulars. Or not. LOL

    • Hi Lelia – Strangely enough, that Led Zeppelin album does NOT contain the lyric ” ‘Cause I’ve seen some hot, hot blazes come down to smoke and ash”.

I have two things to post for you on IOW later after the traffic dies down, maybe around 5 PM? One about pinball machines, one about Monty Python.

    • Hi, Lelia. You’re very welcome. Yes, looking at the larger cartoon gives you a whole new prospective. I know Mike likes Easter eggs,it’s cute, and I like your alliterations! I hope you’re having a great day. Well wishes to you and Jerry. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • When you mentioned the enlarged picture I took another look, and noticed Jeff’s excellent sartorial style – T-shirt, jeans, possibly sneakers – Jerry and I may have another soulmate!

    • Neither could I. What did you do with Asimov? Did you see my post? Be back in a bit….๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
