CARTOON ANSWER: WHEN THE OWLS MADE THEIR PLANS, THEY WERE- –

OHTICOSAN  = IN CAHOOTS

Good Morning, Everyone!     πŸ¦‰ “OWL BE SEEING YOU”! πŸ¦‰

🎢”But still you wonder, WHO’s cheatin’ WHO, And WHO’S bein’ true? WHO don’t even care anymore? It makes you wonder, WHO’S doin’ right by someone tonight, And WHOse car is parked next door…”🎢 First song that popped into my head…Not even close? HOO-WHO..? Hey, I just hear ’em, Folks, I don’t write ’em…

OWL kidding aside, I think you either “know” today’s answer phrase or you don’t. I’m only saying this because a few years back, saying this to one of my nephews, he cracked up with laughter. “In cahoots? What the he– is in cahoots”? And you know, for a second there I wasn’t sure myself! It just came FLYING out of my mouth…”You and your brother are in cahoots with this aren’t you”? So I called him this morning at 6AM, and asked him if he remembered. Three things: 1- He did. 2- He’s used it since then. 3- Most people reacted like he first did. (Well 4 actually, but….! Enough said)! Let’s get to our words…I feel confident in TALON YOUTH that we’ve seen these words before. Easy, breezy, done in one fell SWOOP. On to our cartoon: Two devious OWLS, planning to scare a squirrel. What are they figuring? Yelling “BEAK a BOO? Is this what OWLS do? Sit in TREES and wait for the NEST victim, plotting FOWL play? But aren’t OWLS nocturnal, and squirrels diurnal? Is this normal, or just a one-NIGHT STRAND? Some FLIGHT of fancy on Jeff’s part? And look at the grin on that squirrels face, NUThings fazing him! All bright-eyed and BUSHY TAILED! He’s has no clue…Wait a minute, WAIT -A- MINUTE….Are they going to eat him? BeCLAWS if they are…Oh, this is just NUTS! That poor squirrel. Look, I’m no fan of squirrels, going around CHOPPYing from tree to tree. But I don’t want to see these TU-LIP him apart, LIMB from LIMB! HOO’s idea was this? Jeff? Dave? Are you guys “IN CAHOOTS” with this?…BABOOM! The solve, Folks! OWL rest my case…

Eye candy? That grin. An OWLbsolute HOOT!
Jumble Guys, cute puzzle. I’m not NUTS about it, but OWL live. Can’t FAUNA over it, but I’ll survive…and PREY the squirrel does too…

FINAL THOUGHT, if I may. If you get a chance today, check out LaDainian Tomlinson’s Hall of Fame acceptance speech from Saturday night. Moving, unifying, truly inspirational… 🎢”OWL you need is love…”🎢
Happy Monday, Everyone! OWL see you around… πŸ¦‰πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. A big HOOT and holler to the Yanks, after last nites game. Had to laugh after you said that you almost fell out of the @#$% boat. Have a good day Angela.

    • Good morning, Moose! HOOT and holler is right! Listen, last week, doing the same thing, rising for the Judge, I fell right over! Not overBOARD just BOOM right down! LOL..So y’day was almost a repeat performance! I just get too excited when he’s at the plate! And forget where I am! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Anyway, y’day was close, but no cigar! You have a great day..The thunders starting! (Here I mean..besides the Yankee bats)! πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. CHOPPY high water along the coast of the Netherlands led the YOUTH to rescue a rare STRAND of TULIP, ensuring its survival.
No problems with word solving or the answer to today’s cartoon– probably because I am also familiar with the phrase in cahoots” which I learned watching very old westerns on television and films. At least I think that’s where I first heard it.
Great post Angela, you had me hooting and wondering where “The Owl and the Pussycat” were.

    • Good morning, Earl. Thank you! Missed you y’day. I don’t know how you do it. And the Netherlands to boot! Or should I say to HOOT! Great sentence! I was Hooting a bit myself, especially after talking to my nephew! Boy after my own heart! ❀️ We “get” each other..poor kid! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ You know “The Owl and the Pussycat” crossed my mind, but then I figured I’d have to make cat puns besides the owls and squirrels….and trust me, I was NUTTY enough already! Wildlife running amok! Rains β›ˆ are here…Hope all is well…πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

    • You know Earl, now I’m wondering. Does today’s YOUTH know CAHOOTS? πŸ™ŽπŸ»

  3. DISCLAIMER: THE E MAIL WENT OUT WITH AN ERROR. I KEYED A “D” INSTEAD OF AN “S” AS ONE OF THE CIRCLED LETTERS NEEDED FOR THE SOLVE..IT’S BEEN CORRECTED HERE….
The line forms to the left….πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. Good morning. The words were quickly solved but I had a hoot of a time coming up with the final answer. No instant read for a Monday which was fine for a change. Love the challenge rather than a gimme. Until tomorrow stay well

    • Good morning, Paul. I do think it’s a phrase that you’d have to just know. I’m wondering if it’s something regional. Like Earl, I have no idea where I know it from, but it immediately came to mind. As long as we enjoy the challenge, we’re winners though, right? Enjoy your day. πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • That’s an old expression that was used many years ago. But I really haven’t heard it since I was a wee bit of a lad. Plus from old westerns like someone said. It just came to my attention that you mentioned a Pete. By any chance you know someone at the bocce court There is three Petes there. Also an Angela but your too young to be her.

        • Hey Paul. Yes, we’re all agreeing that’s it not something you hear anymore nowadays. But I do like the sound of it!
Paul, If you’re referring to the Peet I sometimes reply to Steve with? I tease him with that because he gets a morning coffee at a place called PEETS, and I chalk his “posting flurry” up to the caffeine! I usually only play Bocce with the men in my family, and they tell me I can improve! But they tell me a lot of things…If I took it all to heart, I’d be living alone on an island somewhere…! πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

  5. EVERYONE:
I JUST HEARD FROM MIKE HE’S GETTING READY TO COME HOME. HE SENDS HIS REGARDS TO EVERYONE, AND HE MISSES HIS BASEBALL! YOU CAN TAKE THE BOY OUT OF THE COUNTRY, BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE THE BASEBALL OUT OF THE BOY!! ⚾️

  6. The words came instantly.
I NEVER would’ve gotten the answer. I think the last time I heard “cahoots” was from my grandmother some 30 years ago. πŸ€”

    • Hey Denny. I’m glad I put that in my post. I have no idea either where I know it from. Stuck deep in the abyss! I think it’s going to stump a lot of people today. Have a great day! πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

  7. Fun puzzle today. I knew cahoots but like others don’t know when or where I learned it though like Earl, associate with old westerns.I too would question whether or not young folks are familiar with the word. I’ll have to ask my grandson. Maybe it will show up on the SAT. Have a good day everyone.

    • Hey Betty. It’s got us all wondering! SATs? You never know! It was fun, but I think it’s going to stump a lot of players. Wishing you a good day also. πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Cahoots was around when I was a kid. It was a fairly common word. I doubt that young folks are familiar with it.

        • I agree, Moose. You never hear it spoken today. Unless my nephew takes it and runs with it! He’s 28. You never know! πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

  8. EVERYONE: IF YOU SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF ALL THE COMMENTS, ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE, AND HIT THE “JUMBLE ANSWERS” BOX, YOU CAN SEE ONE OF THE PICTURES MIKE SENT ME.

  9. Knew answer at first glance and same with words; Great way to start the week. Cahoots made me smile and certainly seldom heard these days. I saw Mike’s vacation pic and trying to place it. Have an awesome day!🌞

    • Hi Sue. It is a word that generates a smile! Somehow I can see and hear an image of it being said, but I can’t place it. It must be as everyone’s saying, an old western. IDK. Beautiful picture, right? Be well, Enjoy your day! πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

  10. I guess I’ll dedicate this to the anonymous posters:

🎡”Well, who are you? (who are you? who, who, who, who?)
I really wanna know (who are you? who, who, who, who?)”🎡

“In cahoots”, old Westerns – where’s Gabby Hayes when you need him?
    Have a great day, everyone.

  11. Well, Angela, you have, I think, outdone yourself with punning today. I’ll have to see what my relatives in Holland have to say about this. They say, “ze erg slim is, we lachten en lachten tot onze kanten deed pijn.”

    • Good afternoon, Eric. SOORT SIR…. This is like a Rosetta Stone crash course! Thank you, once again. And truth be told, I was disappointed in my effort today, not much to work with. How much can one say about Cahoots? I bet the word has gotten repeated more times here today than it has in years!

The translation: She is very clever. We laughed and laughed until our sides ached…
      JA OF NΓ‰E? πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‹πŸ»

  12. The statement about the hot pastrami sandwich may be all correct, straw and all but my question was about the Reuben which has no pastrami in it! Ang, you are so smart knowing about the Rachael and you sweet thing, I would never leave you hangin’! By the by, today……snap.

    • Hey Harry…Where do you hide? We used to see you every day, now it’s once in a blue moon! ( How’s that for reaching way back…)! Harry, you forget I live in the Big Apple! We know our food! I’ve enjoyed many a Reuben and his sister Rachael (DON’T even try it, Harry..I’m one step ahead of you…)! πŸ˜‰
And you have left me hanging at times, but I’ve learned to live with it. I figure you can’t get blood from a stone… (I’ve got a million of ’em)!
And thank you. I try to be sweet, especially here in public!
      Don’t be such a stranger! πŸ™‹πŸ»

        • Hey…2 in a row! I’m flattered! I always thought the “Blood from a turnip” referred mainly to getting money from someone. And “from a stone” meant other things like emotional stuff. But it could be another one of those regional things. Or I could be totally wrong IDK, But you get my drift…I tried cooking turnips, and they were terrible. πŸ™‹πŸ»

  13. you didn’t cook them right. We don’t do emotional in the Midwest, everyone is Baptist!

  14. ROTFL!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I love it! You crack me up! Boy, are we polar opposites! New York and Italian?…We wrote the Emotional Handbook! C’mon, emotions are good, if you keep them in check. What would happen to me in the Midwest? Burning at the stake? πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ Maybe I cooked them wrong; all I know is they were so bitter. That was it for me, one and done! πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • It is called seasoning dear. Hope you did not put any oregano on them! The next time you make some veggie-beef soup, cut up turnips instead of potatoes in it. Hmmmmmmm

      • I’m all about seasoning, Harry. And no, I didn’t use oregano! Cute…πŸ˜‰ Strangely enough, I just made beef stew today..the rain and the bit of cool air put me in the mood. But now, my friend just went to get some Reuben’s! I’m totally incorrigible, I know. LOL…I can’t stop thinking about it! With cream soda…Maybe I will try turnips next time, I’m open to suggestion. No one I know cooks turnips. I’ll have to look it up.
