CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN IT CAME TO CATCHING TROUT, THE SKILLED ANGLER WAS —

SHNFTIERPOI = “PRO-FISH-IENT”

Good Wednesday morning my friends!  COZIER was the only word that I had a difficult time with and I would have expected it to be easier because it had a Z in it.  The fact that it was jumbled as a comparative adjective was enough to throw me off and give my brain quite a workout.  Moving on to the cartoon, we encounter two men in a stream doing a bit of fly fishing.  Reading the dialogue, I immediately picked up on the words “gifted angler” as well as “skilled angler” in the sentence.  Looking at the letter layout, FISH seemed like the obvious word to start with.  Crossing out the letters caused me to see PRO leaving IENT for the finish.

This is my last post for a couple of weeks as we are leaving for vacation later this afternoon.  I’ll be sure to check in from time to time and post a few photos.  Angela will be taking over the reins in the meantime and I wish her the best of luck!  Happy Jumbling and I’ll see you soon! πŸ™‚

  1. Good morning, Mike. I can hear the sighs…You’ ll be missed, for sure ❀️ Post on point, as always! The deer made my morning, too! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. True “FISH STORY”: The quiet, the SOLEitude, the LONGFIN for relaxation. It sounded like the PERCHfect getaway, and I FLIRTed with the idea. I was even SHOWN pictures. Beautiful rustic home in the Pocono Mountains…scenic and lush by day, COZIER by night. He fed me all the right LINES. And he sure was a pretty BUOY. I was HOOKED, if you CATCH my DRIFT. And then we got there, and it WAS everything I imagined. Until the third day when we did this!…CARPe diem? TBT, It’s been my POLICY ever since to ask a lot more questions! HA! πŸ˜€
Our words: There was no WADIN’ around to get them today. Easy, breezy, pretty sure they’ve BASSed by us before. Jeff’s cartoon, SPOT on! Two ANGLERS, one more “Experienced” than the other. We see the “PRO”, we see the “FISH”…we got the “IENT” ROD here…REEL it in, we CAUGHT the big one! Jeff “GIFTED” us again! This is the cutest puzzle, and he gave us every opPERCH-TUNA-ty to solve it! Eye candy? Without a TROUT, the stag smiling in the bushes. I CODldn’t stop laughing! POLEsitively thrilled that they’re not hunters, you can almost hear him say…”Oh DEER, my lucky day”!…
So, me and the fishing? It was ok, REELy. No fashion statement with the clothes, I mean functional, but kind of CRAPPIE. It’s just that I’m mORFE “Heeled and Dream” than “Field and Stream”…But I am a good SPORT, so I tried it again after that. Only this time in the Florida Keys, BASKET in the sun. Warmer, livelier, HAKE of a lot different. House on the beach…(prettier BUOY!)…Now that FISHING TRIP had a lot more alLURE…!
Hoping we all reach our poTENCHial today…Have a good one! πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • LOL….Conch and fish? SPECKtacular! But I’d be SUNK without it!!
You know I’m going to miss this…πŸ’” I’ll need a heart STURGEON! πŸ™‹πŸ»

          • And I didn’t CATCH it either! Excellent! And very rare…A TRIPLE PLAY…Like the Yankees hit into last night! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist)!
            πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Good morning, Moose. Not to fear….That’s why we’re here…We’ll always throw you a LINE!
Hope you have a good day too! πŸ™‹πŸ»

        • Hey Moose. Sometimes the puns can be tricky. Not to worry, there’s always tomorrow, right? πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. She felt COZIER on a double date and her POLICY was to FLIRT only when SHOWN her partner was a gentleman.
Words gave me no problem but the solution had me stymied even after I wrote out the clue letters. I know Angela will not appreciate my problem with puns but if they are not immediately obvious, I get frustrated. Today it took me much longer than usual to solve but I am glad for the challenge.πŸ€”πŸŽ£ 🐑 🐠

    • Good morning, Earl. Not true! I understand your dread of those pesky quotation marks! But, it’s just PUNctuation, that’s all! EmBASS it! LOL…Great sentence today, as always! Hope you’re enjoying this fabulous weather. πŸŽ£πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Hi, Alex! That’s a really good guess, but the one I posted flows better, IMO. Thanks for letting me know what you came up with. Have a great day! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

  4. I paused on cozier as well, Mike. For some reason was spelling it with an “S”. Saw fish right away in the cartoon answer and the rest fell into place easily. Happy Vacation. I just returned from a trip to “Cowboy Country” with my grandson – Grand Tetons, Yellowstone Natonal Park & Mt Rushmore. It was wonderful. You wil be missed.

    • Hi Betty! I noticed you hadn’t posted in awhile and missed hearing from you! Glad you had a good time.

      “SAWFISH right away”?? HA! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Maybe you, like me, was thinking CROZIER. I looked it up to find it’s like a bishop’s staff, also spelled CROSIER, but irrelevant to today’s puzzle.

    • Thanks so much, Betty! I’ll miss your cheerful posts but I’ll be checking in from time to time. Mt Rushmore has always been on my to-do list and your such a wonderful Grandmother for bringing your grandson along for the trip! I’ll see you soon! πŸ™‚πŸ‘‹πŸ»

  5. I easily did clue words, however, answer. tried to elude me. Tks for posting part of picture, could not see deer in my paper. Mike, you and your family have a safe, restful, fun filled vacation. We will leave the light on for you! 😎 PS: Where are you going? Inquiring minds want to know!🌞

    • Hi, Sue! Thanks for the kind words and I’ll miss your cheerful comments. I’ll be sure to post plenty of photos along the way. Let’s see if you can guess where I am rather than me giving it away. I’ll see you soon! 😊

  6. Hi, Mike! Thank you for your answers to my comments. I hope you have a great time on your well-deserved vacation.
Loved your post, as usual, and got COZIER quickly only by backing into it.
I will miss you but will be happy that you & family are having fun together. Be safe.

    • Hi, Lelia! I’ll miss all of your wonderful stories but I’ll be checking in from time to time to make sure I don’t miss anything! I’ll see you real soon, and all my best for Jerry and his Doctor appointment. 😊😊😊

  7. Had to cheat on “cozier”. That was a doozy.

Hate it when the answer is not a real word.
You punsters probably got it immediately.☺

    • Don’t overestimate us, Denny! πŸ˜„ Not me, anyway. The word ‘eventually’ would be more appropriate. Good to hear from you.

    • It took me some time to figure out, Denny. I really appreciated the challenge as I really enjoy the more “difficult” puzzles. Have a wonderful day! πŸ‘πŸ»

  8. HI, Steve! I know what you mean about the hydraulic gold-mining equipment tearing up the hillsides, which is illegal now in Arizona. Even small dredges are illegal in some places.
Will tell you about my gold panning fun when I figure out how to say it in fewer words.
Found the Tundra comic you suggested & saw one of a grandpa snail scolding two youngsters. Funny! Thanks!
More tomorrow. Have to get ready for a doctor apt for Jerry.

    • Thanks Lelia. May the appt go as well as mine did yesterday (lasted about 5 minutes, all ok). See you tomorrow.

  9. Yes, Steve I did think crozier but that had too many letters and somehow had it in my head that cozy was spelled cosy, which of course doens’t look right at all – have to get back in the swing of things now that I’ve had a rest. Have a good day.

  10. Have a great HOLIDAY! hOPE aNGELA posts answers earlier than you. We are early am readers.

Up and tups we enjoy your reviews.

    Mrlen

    • Thanks, Mrlen! If I was being paid to do this, the answers would be up at 3am. Until that happens, between 9&noon it will be. I’m glad you enjoy the posts and thank you for sticking with us. πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ»
