FHONEWLTFLHADEFE Β = Β FLEW OFF THE HANDLE

🎾 Good morning, Mike, good morning, Everyone! 🎾

🎢”Crowded avenues, Homeless in TENNIS shoes..Sometimes I wish to set free..The things that still matter to me…”🎢 TENNIS ANYONE? Funny story…Last Sunday, when we had that Boxing puzzle, I FLINCHed a little. Recognizing Don King ringside, (Who WALNUT recognize the man with the hair that defied gravity)! I figured, no FLIGHT of fancy here, this had to be a PRO Fight. So I took ADVANTAGE of videos in the Boxing ARCADE. I FOLLOWed THROUGH, and MATCHed the OPPONENTS and the ref to FOOTage of actual boxers. Figured I ACEd it. So I went HEAVY on a friendly wager. I should have said a HAIL MARY..I should have asked Jeff FIRST..SERVEice it to say, I fell FLAT! So, this week, even though in my GUT I think we’re looking at Fernando Gonzalez losing to Roger Federer, I’m going to PUTAWAY my feelings, and NET take a STANCE. (Whether it keeps CALLing out to me or NET)! So, LET’s SET things free, and get to our puzzle..Today’s words were ALL SEED beFOREHAND. FORAGE maybe a bit of a CHALLENGer. Since the puzzle had already shown up two weeks ago in ERROR on LINE, Β I had an ADVANTAGE on the cartoon, but still needed a SHOT at the dialogue. And it was SERVED up right on POINT! STROKE of luck! Angry player, “Lost to that jerk”, RACKET Handle broken OFF….”Flew Off The Handle”! TOUCH down! ..Oh, wrong SPORT..Ah, LOVE the puzzle? OVERHEAD and OUT? Β Time to STOPPER? Β Whatever…Good SPIN, guys, great LOB! Today’s eye candy? Nothing really QUALIFIES….I’ll PASS.

Wishing ALL a RALLY great Sunday, and please be sure to RETURN tomorrow! πŸ™‹πŸ»
(Aside to Jeff… SHANKed again? Should I be UPSET)?

    • Good morning! Thank you! Looks that way…Earl must be enjoying the sun! Hope you have a wonderful day too! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. Don’t FLINCH, but has ANYONE else taken a FLIGHT of fancy through the penny ARCADE to FORAGE for a piece of WALNUT like the sparrows at Heathrow?
Didn’t solve the words or the puzzle today but wish I I had since I love tennis and played for many years before stenosis forced me to retire. Have to admire Roger Federr and Venus Willisms for their achievements ar Wimbledon. No sun up here today😠 πŸ†

    • Hi Earl. We’ve lost the sun here also. A little respite from the heat is welcomed tho! If you’d like me to send you the puzzle, let me know and I’ll put the link here for you. Great sentence as always, and sorry to hear about your lost tennis days. Enjoy the day!πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. Hi all – Just kidding here in order to refer to the cartoon, but
“YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!” in your identification. To me, it seemed obvious that he was depicting John McEnroe – the hair, his look, the quote “This cannot be happening”, his breaking the HANDLE off the racquet (a great hint for the answer).
It’s also hard to believe anyone could call Federer a jerk – he seems like one of the most un-jerk-like people in all of sports.

I will hasten to add that I’m no tennis expert, although I do remember Bud Collins announcing matches of Billie Jean Moffitt (before her marriage) on Boston’s PBS TV station, WGBH.

    • I get the “You cannot be serious”, but like I said..GUT feeling, and the reason why I DIDN’T bet the ‘lobster’ ranch this time! I can HANDLE it if the guess is wrong…πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • If “there will be an answer” not to your liking, we’ll just “LET it be.” πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

        • 🎢”Whisper….Let it be….”🎢. Not a problem! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. I don’t understand. The last two Sundays the jumble in my paper does not match what your jumble answer’s are. Can you please tell me why. Thank you. Hellen

  4. Hi, Mike et al! You will hear no β€œinstant solve” or β€œeasy puzzle” from me today. I had to self-jumble half the words & get my Scrabble tiles out for the cartoon answer. The happy payback was being proud of myself for persevering to the finish.
I had to quit tennis with β€œtennis elbow” caused while deep-sea fishing & pulling in what I thought was a huge sea bass but was a huge ray that we had to let go.
    Have a super Sunday, all!!

  5. Thank you Angela for your reply. 7/23/17 answer’s were offer (oe), gripe (gr), fungus (us), and appear (pr), with the puzzle answer being GROUPERS. As you can see it is a completely different puzzle. This is what my paper showed. They have done this for several weeks now. I will go to the link you gave me and see if I can find an answer to why they are different. It only happens on Sunday. Thanks again

    • You’re very welcome, Helen, I wish I could do more. I’d suggest you let your local paper know about this, as they may not be aware. I’m sure you, as I and many others look forward to doing our puzzles, especially on Sundays, and it can be disappointing. If you care to tell me the paper you’re having the problem with, we’d be happy to pass the information on to someone who may be able to help. Can’t promise, but we’ll try! Hoping you enjoy the rest of your day! πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Hey Moose, Yea, that he is! And you’re right, it might SERVE him well to take up another sport! Any suggestions?
Hope you’re enjoying your day! πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Beautiful Sunday in upstate NY. Good one. Maybe Beach Volleyball. Have a good week.

        • Beach volleyball might just work..anything that’ll keep a racket out of reach, right? You got beautiful weather and a Yankee win today…I know you’re having a good day! Be well…Ciao! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  6. We have never had 6 word’s in our jumble puzzles. We always just have 4 words for the puzzle our paper carries. Bummer, would really like the 6 word ones. πŸ˜•

  7. Our paper is “Times Standard”. They are a local paper. Yes I very much look forward to my puzzles everyday. I looked on the puzzle and I couldn’t find a date. Thanks again for your help. You have a great day also. Hellen

    • Hi Helen. Monday through Saturday, the Jumble puzzle has 4 words. Only on Sunday does it have the 6. If you’ve never seen the 6 word puzzle, it seems that your paper doesn’t offer the actual Sunday puzzle. If you’d like, I can give you a link that would allow you to see the puzzle each day. You can than bookmark it, and use it whenever you choose. πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • The date 7/24 should be visible near the bottom left corner of the cartoon, below the fish and to the left of the octopus. Your paper printed the Monday Jumble on Sunday, a day early.

    • LOL…Good morning, Moose! Good ones! You go to the head of the BASS! Kind of took the FIN out of it tho, huh? Guess us early birds were all SHELL shocked to see the puzzle this morning! Raining here too…🎢”Rainy days and Mondays always get me down…”🎢 But I had fun with the puzzle just the same..Stick around…MORAY to come! πŸ πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Kind of puts a DAMPER on our Monday. Have a good one. Nice jabs as usual, Angela.

        • You’re not kidding…It’s dark and pouring here…Good for my tomato plants, tho! Don’t go away yet, Moose. I’m just waiting for Mike to open todays page, so that I can put up my post. As we native NYers say…”You ain’t seen nothing yet”! LOL…Did some deep sea fishing today…! Be well…β›ˆπŸ™‹πŸ»

  8. Good evening. I know it’s Monday but after getting all the words and being stuck on the cartoon answer I just put it aside and just now got back to it. Thought I’d post Monday’s answer which was easy as pie but never got the your comments. Sunday had me stumped for the longest time. I picked the paper up for the third time and finally it came to me. Feel good that I never gave up and solved it. Looking forward to Tuesday. Stay well

    • Hey Paul, Way to go! That third time was the charm!
See you t’row! Have a good night! πŸ™‹πŸ»
