Good Monday morning my friends, and welcome back to another week of Jumble fun!  The puzzle sure was a breeze this morning as all of the clue words were solved at first glance and I was at the cartoon in seconds.  The setting for this one brings us to a small storefront where local businessman “Matt” (clever pun, Jeff) is learning that his dream of operating a laundromat just went down the drain.  With a giant “out of business” banner in the window and a chained up front door, the look of desperation on his face sure is heartbreaking.  You might even say he looks like he’s been put through the wringer!  The letter layout for the final solution was loads of fun but I already had the answer just by reading the cartoon.  I hope this puzzle didn’t turn you into a basket case or leave you pressed for time.  I’ll see you tomorrow!  😊

  1. In his SALAD days, Grandpa would ride the TWIRI- a – whirl but today he is content to POLISH off a soft ice cream sitting in the SQUARE watching the water slide riders get all washed up at the finish line.
    Agree that today’s clue words and solution were a snap– no pen needed, just waiting for a pile of puns to agitate my funny bone and load me up with laughs and no lint for Monday, which in my youth WAS laundry day for my family.

    • Loads of imagery in that sentence, Earl! My wash day is Friday and I turn into my second favorite superhero “Iron Man” after it’s all done. My solar clothes dryer was broken because of all the rain, so there was no airing my dirty laundry! I hope that was a delicate start to your pun request. 😊👍🏻

        ….Is the LAUNDROMAT open?No, it’s CLOTHESed! We see so much of this today. The Mom and Pop businesses becoming a thing of the past. Ok, Matt really doesn’t look like Mom or Pop, (he kind of looks three SHEETS to the wind, no)? and the man who appears to be the property owner strangely looks like John Larroquette…but you catch my DREFT. For Matt, the SALAD days are over. All the spit and POLISHing those machines won’t make a bit of difference now. No matter what kind of SPIN you put on it, he’s back to SQUARE one. He should have tried IRONing things out sooner, and CLEANed up his act before the TIDEs turned like this. So now the business FOLDED, everything came TUMBLEing down, he’s left HIGH and DRY, (and I’m not sure what to do with TWIRL)!! Our puzzle: Easy, FABREEZEy words today! SHOUT out to Dave!! The cartoon? Great dialogue, Jeff giving us LOADS of hints for the solve. WATER more could we ask for? THROW in the TOWEL, we’re done! Today’s eye candy? Loving the little WASHER logo on Matt’s shirt, it’s perfectly SUITed!
        So, Monday; LAUNDRY day for a lot of us. I’m doing some right now, but how I hate the FOLDING….Sometimes I just restart the DRYER…

      • I had to go through the WRINGER , mentally, to come up with those and my head was in a SPIN CYCLE sniffing the lavender DRYER SHEETS.
        Yesterday I took a break from all device activity and spent the day walking along the beach on Lake Ontario before enjoying an outdoor concert at the lighthouse. Can’t think of an appropriate song for being away and having a great day. Can you help?

      • Angela – Thanks for bringing Acker Bilk to mind – don’t remember the last time I thought of that, or Percy Faith “A Summer Place”, which might also fit here. I agree that no lyrics are necessary, but in looking it up, I see that Andy Williams actually had a version with lyrics. Is “Stranger ..” in your father’s record collection?

  4. Hi, Mike et al!! Instant answer, easy words with backing into POLISH and one extra look at SQUARE. Today I feel all washed up just like the poor Laundromat guy. I think the heat got to me over the weekend so I will take a couple of naps, go to bed early tonight, and come back tomorrow cheerful. Greatly enjoyed all the puns.

    • Hi, Lelia! Your comment had me thinking that the clue word could be polish (like a spray on polish) or Polish (like the nationality)! I didn’t see it this morning so thank you. Also I hope you get some much needed rest. I don’t know how you folks survive in the 🌵. All my best for a quiet and recooperative day. 😀

  5. Just this once, I am inspired to attempt to emulate Earl, the Master (the sincerest form of flattery, right?)

    ALL are CHEERing “ZOT!” to see the ocean TIDE GAIN the upper hand and FABulously WHISK away the LAVA flow, so that the OLD DUTCH soccer team AJAX DUZ not have to bring out the BORAXe to make their field playable.
