CARTOON ANSWER:

THE SPIDERS THOUGHT THEIR KIDS WERE SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME…

TBHNEOWE – ON THE WEB

Hey, Mike..This one’s for you….🏊🏻

Good morning, Mike, good morning, Everyone!

You know when you walk into the bathroom at night, turn on the light and you see a spider in your tub? So you get a tissue, right?..And carefully, VERY, VERY carefully,…you burn the house down? There you go…sums it right up for me! Spiders drive ME up the wall..I mean except for the fact that you can get in a full weeks worth of cardio just walking into a web, what is there to say about spiders? “ITSYΒ BITSY”? Puh-lease…I’ll see you three “Wheels On The Bus”, THREAD water with a “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”, Β and raise you a “SPINNING Top”. .Anything but that spider! Today’s words: I’m not sure if Wicket is new, but it DREW me right in! All four were easy, breezy…but the cartoon made me queasy! Nothing like a little arachnid pic first thing in the morning to get the COBWEBS out of your head, and set your stomach SPINNING. Am I right? …(Uh, hold the pancakes). So, we see little spiders sitting “On the Web..” SILK your teeth right in…WEAVE got our solve..The eye candy? (I can’t even think about food..) I’ll go with that little honey pot pencil holder…
OK, Β That’s a WRAP.

Enjoy! πŸ•·πŸ•·πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. I’m with you all the way on the spiders Thing. I only had trouble with one word and that was neuron. Haven’t seen that one for a long time.
I really enjoy your daily post. Gets my day started.

    • Makes your skin CRAWL,Right? Thank you, Claire. Hope you have a great day! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. The Lloyds of London AGENT found himself in a sticky WICKET because a NEURON-induced BUNCH of accidents entangled hiim in a web of claims.
Three clue words gave me no trouble and I had solved the puzzle before I was able to come up with neuron. Almost had to resort to writing but managed to avoid it.
Sorry about your arachnophobia, Angela. Knowing that, I won’t relate an incident I had with a tarantula years ago. And that’s no “tangled web meant to deceive.”
P.S. I wrote another sentence this morn but went back to the drawing board before I posted it. If you or anyone is curious I’ll post it.
Relatives visit tomorrow, so I can’t promise I’ll be here– if not have a great weekend everyone

  3. Good morning,🐝 Earl. Neuron’s 2 for 2. May be the deadly word today. I wondered how you’d come up with a sentence….these weren’t the most ‘user friendly” words! But you never cease to amaze! Post your other sentence if you’d like. I always enjoy reading them. I looked up the Simon and Garfunkle puzzle. They did one on May 17, 2015. Maybe if they read this, they’ll do another for you. Enjoy your family tomorrow. Have a great day. πŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Just for you, Angela: The secret AGENT’s nom de plume was BUNCH WICKET and he was able to infiltrate the enemy’s NEURON research lab.
Didn’t feel comfy posting this one first because even though I had a boyhood friend whose father’s nickname was Bunch–he was a WWII vet– wasn’ t sure others would think it plausible. I prefer my second try.

  4. Thank you, Earl. I think it’s a great sentence also. What’s not believable about Bunch as a nickname? You’d die laughing if I told you some of the names my friends go by! Truly! I’m called Lefty, Ace, and a few others. Different people in my life call me by different names. I don’t even know how they all started, but they end up sticking. They’re all terms of endearment! You post what you like…I enjoy it all. Did you notice I added 2 bee emojis to the post? I’ll try again. Be well. Enjoy! πŸπŸπŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Sorry Angela I missed the emojis in your post! Duh, guess I am not as with it as I thought. Appreciate the effort even though you had to hit me over the had with it. Too bad you don’t have Betty as a nickname–“I could call you Betty, you could call me Al,”

      • LOL..I hate to even say this, because talk about Serendipity, or plausibility, or probability, or whatever “ITY”, but I have 6 nicknames. And one of them is “B”. And no, it’s NOT short for whatever anyone might be thinking! So I got Bees all over the place. And I sign off with the 🐝 Whenever I speak with my friends and family, and they use them to me. But for some reason, it doesn’t appear on this page the same way it looks when I type it. IDK why. I’ve had the name for about 30 years…so y’day when you said Buzz…I was like…”Wha”?Too funny! Anyway, it prints so tiny, you’d have to spread the icon to really see it. So, no I’m not a Betty, but 🎢”you can call me Al…🎢…πŸ™‹πŸ»

  5. Count me in as another one who was unnerved by neuron today. I had already figured out the cartoon answer so knew what letters I needed. Unlike Earl, I had to get out pencil and paper. Happy Thursday everyone.

    • Hi Betty – “Unnerved” by NEURON? πŸ˜„ That got my synapses snapping! Stay cool. We’re headed for a hot one today, although I think our high temp will probably be what Leila had for a low last night.

  6. Bees BUZZing in the post, spiders surrounding the URL — and Beatles yesterday. Check the window screens; this place is starting to make my skin crawl. (Although those were cute spiders – two words I never expected to type together.)

I could use the jolt, though, since my NEURONs are not firing — never did get that word.

    • Very clever of you,Steve– using my nickname Buzz and my real name Earl, but in web talk–URL. Perhaps I should not be so ego-centric as to assume that was meant for my enjoyment?

      • Just like Leila, you give me too much credit! The BUZZ was meant for you, but I never thought of “Earl”, because in my head I pronounced it U-R-L. Great catch, though, and you’re certainly welcome to it. By all means, please review ALL my posts, so that I can claim retroactive credit!

  7. I knew the answer to puzzle as soon as I saw it and moved quickly through all words except neuron. I don’t like giving up, however, neuron won. I doubt that I have used the word neuron in years and it totally confused me. Everyone have a great day!! πŸ™‚

    • Hi Sue! – Hey, about yesterday’s comment – If you “Keep your eyes wide open all the time”,
      🎡”How do you sleep?” 🎡 (- John Lennon) πŸ˜‰πŸ˜„πŸ˜³

  8. Good afternoon everyone! Angela, you sure did a great job this morning. The funny thing about your post was that I did see a small spider last night in the bathroom, but he wasn’t around for too long!!! How eerie is that!

NEURON was the stumper for me today. I tried to make a word starting with RE- for a bit but finally took out my notepad and self-jumbled a few times before it came. The cartoon answer was an instant solve though. I really enjoyed how Jeff drew the young spiders with two devices in each of their hands — or was it legs???

We had so much fun in the sun this morning but decided to come inside early to escape the heat. The ocean is still absolutely freezing this time of year anyway. I hope everyone is enjoying their Thursday. I’ll see you tomorrow. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ»

      • Take heart ❀️ ! Your Mets only have to fly up from LA to whomp the pitiful Giants, who had first a 1+ hour rain delay, then a crushing 12-11 loss, then a cross-country flight arriving, oh 4 AM I guess, then play tomorrow night. Ugh. Goodnight, Gracie. πŸ™‚

        • Not even a day off for the poor bast–s. 1979..all,over again. Pitiful. Already hearing outclassed, outplayed….outrageous. Kind of late to take heart anymore. (Sigh)…Goodnight. πŸ™

  9. Ditto Ditto Ditto…What happened to that like chat page attachment? Where do I click?

    • Harry, Sorry, I can’t help you. I was able to toggle back and forth, and now it’s gone. Maybe someone else knows??? πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • I don’t post much on “Other Words” but I did try to find it earlier and wondered why I did not see it. If you go to June 16th, you can pull it up and last post was 24 hours ago, however, probably not current. Sounds like something that Mike will fix. πŸ™‚

        • Uh-oh – I have a bad feeling about why Sue’s looking for “in Other words”. πŸ˜‰ Although as Earl said, perhaps I should not be so ego-centric.

  10. Tks, Mike. I’d say it’s ironic about the spider, but I don’t know about funny. Don’t you know what’s worse than seeing a spider..? NOT seeing the spider! You got yourself a new roommate!! LOL. i don’t know why, but Neuron didn’t CATCH me. Maybe because I’m so wired all the time??? Could be. I think they’re all called legs; I didn’t look at it any longer than necessary…YUCK! I’m out ON the water, not braving it in the water yet..yes, it’s cold. Glad you enjoyed your time with the family. Catch you later at the ballpark! Enjoy! πŸ˜€πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Old joke – What’s worse than finding a worm in an apple? Finding half a worm! (I think everyone’s appetite had been ruined by now anyway!)

  11. I beg your indulgence, but I just can’t resist this one:

🎡 “Look, he’s crawling up my wall
    Black and hairy, very small
Now he’s up above my head
    Hanging by a little thread”

“Maybe he’s as scared as me!”

    “Creepy, crawly
    Creepy, crawly
    Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
    Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

He’s come to a sticky end
Don’t think he will ever mend
Never more will he come ’round
    He’s embedded in the ground
    Boris the spider
    Boris the spider” 🎡

    • Hey Sue, here’s to us!

      🎡”From the Kentucky coal mines
      To the California sun..” 🎡

  12. Hi, Mike et al! Seeing spiders, my first thought was to get β€˜er done fast & be done with spiders! Talk about a coincidence, a week ago I saw a tiny spider in the kitchen the size of a pinhead or less, called our bug guy, & told him to come early this month. When I finally opened the newspaper today to do the Jumble, the bug guy had just arrived & was spraying in the front yard.
Puzzle solve: It was fun for me knowing the cartoon answer instantaneously. It was also fun struggling with neuron. It’s all fun!! (That’s the same thing I said yesterday.)
Mike, so glad you & your family had fun on the beach.
Angela, loved your post, especially about taking a tissue & carefully burning the house down. Too funny!!
Steve, I agree that Bridge Over Troubled Waters is a big winner. More tomorrow.

    • Hi Lelia – Are you sick of hearing about heat yet? Even the BBC noticed the Arizona drivers wearing oven mitts yesterday. (By the way, the banner at the top of that story predicted that today’s high for London is 26Β°C). They also had a story about the Oakland A’s and Texas Ranger’s farm teams playing in the Arizona League, also known as the “League of Fire”, titled “The professional baseball league played in 43C heat.”

P.S. – Your Arizona lad Auston Matthews won the NHL Rookie of the Year award last night.

  13. Oopsie, I just looked it up and the bridge is over troubled water, not waters.

    • That is, how you say? Aces?! Never thought you could combine spiders and baseball (or softball), amazing.

In one of the parks near here, there are so many tarantulas running around in mating season in the fall, they actually close the road for a couple of months.

      • No, no Aces here. Totally gross. Boy this puzzle sure opened up a can of ….spiders, huh? πŸ•·πŸ•·

  14. Hey Steve, been meaning to tell you that CA is a beautiful state; have been down the coast from WA and the view was awesome. Going over the Golden Gate was on my bucket list and I think it led directly to the Oakland Bay Bridge; thought would never get across it as it seems to never end. Also, Old Sacramento was a favorite as I love history. BTW, Bobby McGee is one of my favorite songs and I listen to Kris K. sing it as often as possible. I will give myself time out for getting off the subject of Jumble, however, can’t post at “Other Words” as can’t find it. Have a Good Night! πŸ™‚

    • Hey Sue – don’t sweat getting off topic, especially during #JUMBLEANSWERSAFTERDARK time – everybody else did today! Sounds like a great trip, and yes the whole Bay Bridge is about 8 miles long. I commuted it almost every workday for 37 years. They replaced the Eastern portion in 2013 with the new span that you see as the logo on the Warriors’ basketball jerseys. Old Sacramento has a great railroad museum, and the State Fair takes place there every year at Cal Expo. I’ll put off a trip there since it was about 110Β° there this week. πŸ˜“ See you tomorrow. πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ
