THE FOOD CRITIC WAS BEHIND IN HIS RESTAURANT REVIEWS BECAUSE HE HAD:

LETOMHOUIAPNCOSTH =  TOO MUCH ON HIS PLATE

Mike: This one’s for you…πŸ₯˜ 🍷

Good morning, Mike, good morning, Everyone. What’s SUP?
Ah, Food! Who doesn’t LOAF Food? And so THYMEly…Mike and I were just talking food last night! As a dedicated Foodie, I’m EGGcited, from my head TOMATOES about this puzzle, so LETTUCE CELERYbrate, and dig right in!

We’ve got some subLIME scrambles this morning; we’ve seen them in the PAST-Ah, with mayPEA a few new twists. I’d say Fathom and Asthma apPEAR to look the most appEELing. But, overall, easy, PEASy. ORANGEing our letters, was I the only one who saw Mouth, and figured, “Oh, the five letter word CANNOLI be Mouth”? HA…NACHO! I did FRY it, but staying with it would have KALEd me! It wasn’t MINT to be! ROLLing along, I concenTRAYted on the dialogue between the critic and the waiter. A-MAIZEing hints here, and then the question was even BUTTER. “Being behind”…summed it up. We’ve all BEAN there, BITEing off more then we can CHEW, and then telling ourselves, “WHEAT a minute, WHEAT a minute, I’m completely BOWLed over! I can’t KETCHUP! I DONUT what to do!” Not the best way to live OLIVES! We KNEAD to SLOE down, be more RAISINable, and ROMAINE in control of our THYME. We deserve the PEAS and quiet…

Eye CANDY today? No big DILL. The male diner looks like Tom Bosley. The female, should we even TACO ’bout it? (Let’s start calling her the B in P..blonde in purple)! She does seem to recognize the critic though. I got ‘NUTin here, perhaps one of you can shed some light. A PENNE for your thoughts. Last but not YEAST, the waiter. CURRIES me back. He looks like someone from my family tree, a few generations removed. Too OutDATEd. Does anyone still look like this? BEETS me. But I think I’ll choose him. Just for the HALIBUT.

It’s Sunday, Funday! HONEY, DEW TURNIP the music, and get up and dance!

LENTIL tomorrow….🍝 πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. Good morning, Everyone. For those of you who use the colorized on-line version of Jumble, for your playing pleasure, today’s puzzle is incorrect. The cartoon is next week’s entry, and as you’ll see it displays only two words. The words belong to today’s puzzle. A “mess in the press”, as I like to say! Hope this isn’t your only reCOURSE! 🍝 πŸ™‹πŸ»

  2. Wow, you were really inspired today, Angela. This puzzle gave me little trouble. I solved all the words and figured his, the and plate were probably in the answer. Then I saw much and too. I was surprised asthma was one of the cws because I had assumed David avoided troublesome diseases.

    • Good morning, 🎢”Sweet Caroline”🎢. How’re you? LOL Yea, food can do that to me! The puzzle was so easy, that I had sooo much time on my hands! Sunday mornings just feel good, you know? I thought Asthma an odd choice too, but I wonder how they keep coming up with all these words, right? Speaking of, we’re having heat alerts here since early morning. High temps, and the humidity that comes with it. And it’s not even mid June. It makes me so nervous. Hope you have an ..🎢”Easy like Sunday morning…”🎢 day..β€οΈπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • It’s supposed to be in the high 80’s here upstate, too. I’m off to the farmers market. Wishing you and everyone the same kind of Sunday. And no birds in the awnings!

  3. LOL..Nothing more so far. I’m outside enjoying my coffee and newspapers, before it gets unbearable. Enjoy the market, I love those places! Try to stay cool. Happy thoughts! πŸŒžπŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. I cannot FATHOM how an INCOMIng HOURLY ASTHMA attack could TICKLE anyone’s sense of humor.
Since I did not have access to today’s puzzle, I can’t relay what gave me trouble–sometimes clue words which have prefixes give me grief, income might have tripped me up.
Great stream of food puns/references Angela–you out did yourself and gave us a smorgasbord of tasty morsels to feast on this Sunday!
Yesterday’s Spring Fest went well and watching youngsters get fitted for bike helmets and then the excitement of hoping they had won a free bike made my day– that and truly summer-like weaher!

  5. Good morning, Earl, and again, thank you for your always kind words. I love the smorgasbord! You are ever the wordsmith! I’m glad you enjoyed yourself y’day, nothing beats sharing the joy of children, right? Your sentence, once more, a delight! I can give you this link for the daily and Sunday Jumble. All you need to do is type it into your browser window, open it, and then bookmark or save it, and you’ll be able to have the puzzle each day. Here it is:.

I hope it helps! Have a great day, stay cool! πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • You’re very welcome. Or maybe try it before time, if you can, just to be sure it’ll work. Once it opens, just scroll down to Jumble. It offers a lot of other games also. Hope you can make use of it! Be well. πŸ™‹πŸ»

  6. I told you earlier that I was at a loss for words, so I’m happy to see you made up for it! A truly awesome performance. πŸ‘πŸ‘ And now I feel like I won’t have to eat until Tuesday. πŸ™‚

    • THANKS! I try! LOL. But I doubt you would fid yourself at a loss for words! πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

  7. By the way, that waiter? Looks like Snidely Whiplash had to get a job after Dudley Do-Right was cancelled.

    • LOL. It’s kind of pushing the envelope. I mean…what’s up with that? Really looks like my Great, Great Grandfather, still in the old country! Complete with handlebar mustache! And for the record, that’s Great denoting generational…you know just in case you’re thinking he was like a really wonderful guy….ROTFL. πŸ‘¨πŸ» So, did you even do the puzzle today? πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Yes, I did the puzzle, but it was so easy, I pulled an “Earl” – didn’t have to use my pen. Instant solve on the answer and only a pause at ASTHMA (since you asked).

        • Just doing my job. Mike checks the stats. I’m trying to get om a commission basis here. πŸ˜‚Your thoughts on the green? πŸ™‹πŸ»

          • Well, since you asked πŸ™‚. I decided to give it a chance before having an opinion. It is a bit cumbersome because it’s more suited to a vertical iphone-type display than a full horizontal ipad screen. So it looks better if I hold the pad vertically, but then the keyboard is smaller for responding.

You know me; I never had a problem with the original blue layout, but I know Mike thinks “change is good.” πŸ˜‰

            • Ah, very good point. I had mine in the vertical position, because I’m playing Scrabble against the iPad. And you’re right, it does look a lot different horizontally. Very insightful.Seriuosly. I resist change a lot too, but I’m trying to be a little more open and flexible. You know, not so introverted! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • Yes, Angela, by all means, don’t be so shy and reserved! 😌

              • I know. The struggle is real. But I’m learning to you know, get out there a little bit more! I think I’m getting the hang of it! πŸ˜‚ πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • I do owe that one to you. After all, it was you and Lelia who first encouraged me to continue posting. (Never too late to reconsider, you know). πŸ˜‰

(Oh by the way – went to buy milk this morning – first thing I see in the dairy case – GOAT milk! Oy!).

              • Nah, you don’t owe me. I’ll go you one better. One of my puzzles this morning, 94 Down, Goat Antelope…5 letters. I looked over my shoulder… I tried putting in STEVE…It didn’t work..πŸ˜‚πŸ

              • Swear it! Himalayan goat antelope. Goral! Enough to make you sick 5:30 in the morning! LOL….OK,,so the Penguins may take it tonight. You’ll be watching most likely 7-7:30 ish…you’ll be ahead of me. Is that right, or do you wait out the whole game? We also have the Sox at 8…Not too easy watching both, but I’ll give it a shot. We know we can’t mention anything, really no prob there, MKe says hockey does not exist! Do I have it all correct! πŸ˜‚

              • I’ll be behind you watching hockey. I’ll probably start the game around 6 PM PDT, 9 PM EDT. I’d love to see the Sox on ESPN, but I’d rather give full attention to a Stanley Cup elimination game; after all, it’s one of my last fixes for the season.
Probably have to run some errands soon – see you later, stay cool!

              • See I still can’t get this.If the game starts at 5 your time, and you start watching at 6, are you then still taping it? Because wouldn’t it play out 5-8 your time? Is this the reason for using the 2 VCRs? I’m a IDIOM SAVANT when it comes to this! LOL…Yes, we know this is your break time. The princes have come in from golf and they’ve started eating already. Let’s pray they go to the club for the game…LOL…

              • Yes, you got it. I’m taping in real time on one and watching the recorded tape on the other, so it’s just time-shifted by about an hour, and I get to skip the dead time. I’ll go digital someday soon (only 20 or so years behind).

              • Hey, whatever works. If it ain’t broke…I thought I had it right, I’m glad I got it straight in my head! LOL. Vince Gill, good ole country boy opening. I like him. Ok…good luck to us! πŸ’ πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • Vince Gill – If only the Sharks were still playing! 🦈🦈
There was an NHL player named Hal Gill as recently as 2015 – I always wished the Sharks would trade for him. He even played for the Penguins – he could have been there tonight!
I’m going to start up the game soon, see ya later.

              • It’s becoming contagious, the 6 degrees I always tell you we play. Just segueing right along! Isn’t Gill still in the picture? Down Florida? Sure I remember when he was part of the 09 Penguin roster when they won. Vince Gill, Hal Gill, Gil Hodges, hodgepodge….and so it goes! πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • Hey Angela – Have you seen the end of the Cup game? If you fell asleep and are going to watch it on delay, I don’t want to spoil it for you! πŸ˜‰

              • No spoilers here. Wild game, huh? Always strange when the wins on the road tho, you know ? Fireworks going off outside…Mike went to sleep hours ago.

              • I’ll follow him shortly. Nashville has a right to feel cheated after the disallowed goal, but under the rules, it was the right call. What’s gotten into the Mets? Poor Sox. Warriors tomorrow. Here’s hoping “only baseball” season (defined in the comic “Frazz”) starts tomorrow (time between the end of hockey and basketball seasons and the start of football).

              • What’d ya figure the odds are of Pollock hanging in effigy from one of those Tennessee Redwoods? And “in the crease” taking on all new meaning? Yea, tough call. Key call. But from the first ad nauseum replay, you heard the whistle. If the game ended up in the win by just the one goal, the headlines would all be..”We wuz robbed”! I was going right to the text to shout out to you when it happened, but then I remembered. (What time is it on your side…)? LOL. And Lou went to sleep before the game even started..I had to go to calling up #3 to talk it out! Let’s face it, if we were Pred fans, we’d be preaching this morning, crying in our fried catfish, playing the RARE broken heart country ditty over and over and…LOL. You win some…My Mets? I’m thinking we don’t talk about it just yet. Just in case the baseball gods are reading this too! It’s still so early, and anyway, the Nats are on steroids, you know? Sox? Can’t blame Mike for going to bed early. School night, water park hangover…3 up on the board for Detroit as soon as they heard, “Play…Bal….”! Never even got that last L out! LOL..The Warriors tonight? Can’t come soon enough. Prayin’ it’s the last call. Kick the Cavs to the curb. Let’s hope God, gimme “only baseball”. Once more, CANT COME SOON ENOUGH! Gets to the point that you can’t keep your idioms straight! Slap shot, slap happy, slam dunk, slammin ‘ into the outfield wall…”🎢Everybody hands go up…All I do is win win..”🎢. OK, so there you have it. Sports Review for your Monday morning. Print..6AM…See you on the back pages…..βšΎοΈπŸ€πŸ’. πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • Yeah, we know about wins on the road. Like I said, Warriors tomorrow would be first home championship since ’74 A’s.

First Stanley Cup finals between American-born coaches in history (and they grew up about 60 miles from each other in Mass.), first repeat champions since 1997-1998 Detroit.

              • Resident statistician! …I still believe that if you didn’t put yourself through all this, you wouldn’t need those naps”. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ And care to make book on how many times tonight were ‘gonna hear..”First home championship since….” . (Or how long it took Stephen to grow that beard…) ROTFL πŸ€ Locked and loaded. Bring it on! πŸ€ πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • PS…Just an FYI…”🎢Poison Ivy..Lord’ll make you itch..”🎢 Scratchin’ the wrong itch dropping that on poor Mike! He’d tell you he “wasn’t even a twinkle in the eye..” The wood, that’s a better one…Oh wait..The Sox..Wood? Not so much, huh??? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (And you’re just about turning over to the cool side for the first time right about now.., huh)? 2nd cup β˜•οΈ Makin’ that Hay while the sun shines…πŸ˜‚ ⏱ πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • What beard? We can’t even see it – they don’t call him Baby-Faced for nothing.

Nashville did essentially lose by the one goal; the empty-netter hardly counts.
And I must say, you’re even more of a hockey fan than I realized, maybe more than me. I only remembered that Hal Gill was a hockey player, not that he played for Pittsburgh or was currently with Florida until I looked it up. Very impressive. BMH, I’m Not Worthy! πŸ‘ Although I only see a few Eastern teams during the season and not usually the Pens.

Ok, I gotta get the comics and do the Jumble so I can jump over to today’s stuff – see you there. I would have died wiout my Peet’s coffee this morning.

              • Good morning, Glory. A little morning drama. Read before you post. Gotta get back to you. You and Mike are keeping me on my toes! I thought I had the 4 Luigus for that. 4 of them, 3 brothers…I figure that’s my limit! The Whole 9 Yards?…You guys are all so needy!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

              • Ok I think this is the one i told you I’d get back to you on. Crazy day. Started way too early too. Curry wanted to grow that beard for years. He admitted it just would never come in right. Spots all over, never full. ((Not like the guys I know..shave at 6 in the morning…by lunch time the beards there)! LOL..But, he tried it again thus past winter, and this time he stuck with it. God knows he does have the “🎢Cutest little baby face…”🎢 and he looks more mature now. But the press are just eating it up. So I’m figuring tonight, during a lull, they’ll discuss the beard. I think you mis read me on the goal. What I meant was despite how the Penguins scored in those last 95 seconds, if the Preds didn’t get robbed of that goal, rules not withstanding, an 1-0 loss would have stung more in my opinion. Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t think I’m more of a fan than you, I just remember differently than you do. I followed Pittsburgh for years, and 2009 just happens to be a memorable year. I knew about the Florida connection, because one night last year playing 6 degrees, it came up. You learn something every day. You’re way worthy, LOL..we just follow different teams. And I told you, I’m a voracious reader. Obsessive. About anything and everything. I have to be with the Luigis. Today I spent a little time during all the craziness in my Drs office. I had my second newspaper and couldn’t wait to get into the sports pages. But I was playing so much defense for the blog, I never cracked it open. I was home already and there was still “turmoil”. LOL. But now I’m so behind on the reading, it really bugs me. (And when I told the dr about the left thumb…LOL…) So, maybe we’re even. I don’t know much about West Coast hockey! So psyched about tonight. Cavs to the curb! πŸ’πŸ’

              • Thanks for catching up.

Hey, You think Melania is feeling like Eva Gabor in “Green Acres”?

“Darling, I love you, but give me Park Avenue.”
                “You are my wife.”
                “Goodbye, New York City life.”

Off to a hotter, more humid city of “Southern efficiency and Northern charm.”

Gotta go out, rest that thumb!! πŸ‘

              • ROTFL. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. It’ll never last. And she’s a very private person. Low key. We’ve seen her more than once in the city. Be careful out here. Catch you later. It’s almost 100 here now….and humid. 🌞πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

        • Yea, Asthma. I think a lot of people could choke up on that word, no? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • But I think you struck gold..or green. Easy on the eyes, nice formatting, extra details…I give it a 10. If we could dance to it, I’d give it a 12. It’s been at least 7-8 minutes since I asked Steve his opinion…I think he’s doing your Dance, Rinse, Repeat! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      • Why did the computer programmer drown in the shower? The instructions on the shampoo said “Lather, Rinse, Repeat.”

        • Steve, you know I’m very fond of you; you ace the music, you’re very good at details, your typing skills are impeccable….but the comedy? Help me out here..I’m looking for the right word! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  8. ….She says smiling sheepishly…tongue in cheek…wine glass in hand…πŸ˜‰

  9. ⚾️ My boys are in Hot-Lanta, bringing the heat! Heat…it’s 83 there, and 91 here…
    Who programmed this? 🌞🌞

  10. The chicago tribune has next week’s puzzle with this week’s clue words. Needless to say, I had to switch to the post star edition.

    • Hi Clay, yes so did the Seattle Times. Good thing we have the Post Star. Hope you’re having a great day! πŸŒžπŸ™‹πŸ»

  11. Hi Steve! Yesterday I looked up Sound of Silence, thank you, and remembered it but never knew it had so many verses & was so β€œdeep.” Because it sounds so pleasant, I though it was just a sweet song about how pleasurable silence can be at times.
After sleeping all day today until now, I decided to tell you an embarrassing moment with a familiar theme, which I don’t plan to bring up again. First two Thanksgivings after marriage, we went to Jerry’s parents’ home with his huge family including 4 Ohlund women who said that all I needed to bring were the rolls. They finally said that I could bring some gravy, which I made using my mother’s recipe. When I arrived with my large pot of gravy, Jerry’s sister was the first to inspect it and her words were, β€œWhat’s that?” I said it was Giblet Gravy. She asked, β€œWhat’s a giblet?” I replied, β€œGiblets are livers & gizzards. I boiled 3 pounds of gizzards for 5 hours yesterday until they were fall-apart tender, with salt, pepper, onions, garlic, poultry seasoning, & a touch of EVOO. Today I added 2 pounds of liver for about 20 minutes with enough corn starch for gravy consistency.” Well, everyone had heard all that and her 4 boys were the first to speak, all saying, β€œI’m not going to eat any of that.” At that moment, I would have joined with you in applauding W.C.’s evaluation of other people’s children. Then Jerry’s mom added that on the farm they had always thrown those to the dogs, and my darling new husband reminded her that sometimes she let him use them for fish bait. The 4 women made a different gravy using broth from the turkey. I had to take my gravy home, where I enjoyed it on mashed potatoes and biscuits. And that is my embarrassing moment story about my dog food, fish bait, liver & gizzards gravy.
Thanks for mentioning me as one who encourages you to comment. I LOVE your comments to me. Hope you had a pleasant day!!!

    • Hello Leila – Great to hear from you and as usual, I love the story. And you still decided to have kids after that. Very courageous!

Since I seem to have a good track record recommending comics, I think you might like “Rose is Rose.” It’s very positive and sweet, but not sickly-sweet:

      http://www.gocomics.com/roseisrose

I’ll have a good time tonight watching the Ice hockey finals.
Have a great night and see you tomorrow!

    • Giblets is a culinary term for the edible offal of a fowl, typically including the heart, gizzard, liver, and other visceral organs. A whole bird from a butcher is often packaged with the giblets, sometimes sealed in a bag in the body cavity.

      • Hi, Harry – Many’s the young bride who only learns about the plastic bag of giblets after roasting it in her first Thanksgiving turkey!

  12. Hey Mike – Turns out those Farmer Boys restaurants are mostly in SoCal (Orange County) and Vegas. But one has crept within 155 miles of me in Clovis.
I’m starting work on my wall immediately. Never mind the Mexican border; I’m going to bisect the state at Fresno to keep that scarecrow at bay!

    • Yep, that’s about how it happens! Like the “🎢 Bat outta hell…”🎢. Poor guy never saw it comin’! And in Frank’s rendition? Those horns! It was always the horns! Had me at hello….πŸŽ·πŸŽΊπŸ™‹πŸ»

  13. Mike – For what it’s worth, and knock on wood, the site has been behaving perfectly for me all day – no pop-ups or redirects, no delays, etc. Even the format is starting to grow on me (but I’m sure some medication will take care of that. 🎼 “You’re gonna need an ocean, of Calamine lotion” 🎼). Must be getting wishy-washy in my old age. Looking forward to tomorrow’s post.

  14. Hey Angela – before I post on today’s thread, doesn’t Mike also have the credentials info backwards? I have it, email in the first box and name in the second, not the other way around??

    • I’m afraid to even look again. I’m spent! And you know it takes a lot for me to say that! IDK. It seems that people are getting thru. Let’s see what flies. What was that suit you had me fitted for? Could have used it this morning, putting out some fires…I don’t even want to read the data anymore. Jeez 1:30…I’m up 9 hours already. I need a drink! Come over to the “new day”. Let the mediocre minds unite! πŸ™πŸ™‹πŸ»
