CARTOON ANSWER: THE SQUIRREL WAS ABLE TO SUMMARIZE HIS LOVE OF PECANS, CASHEWS AND ALMONDS…

LNHUSALEINT – IN A NUTSHELL

Good morning, Everyone
Happy National Donald Duck Day!

I wanted to open up with a fowl/foul pun, you know set the pace for a few good one liners, but this isn’t a chicken, huh? I mean it’s with the squirrel…so I guess it’s a robin or a wren…🎢”WREN somebody loves you, it’s no good unless he loves you…”🎢…No, this is all for the birds! And what can I do with squirrel? NUTtin much! At least not here, on a family oriented blog! TBT, I’m no fan of either. Squirrels or birds. There is such an over population of both where I live, that you reach the point where you become SHELL shocked. (And to all the nature lovers out there, it’s just my opinion).

Let’s just get to the words: Maybe it’s me, but these words all seem so familiar. I feel like we’ve had them all recently. No reason to go out on a limb. (Hey, I’m trying)! I’m pretty sure that simply looking at the cartoon today gave everyone the solve in the blink of an eye. Quick and cute. We didn’t even need the hints…”Summarize”, “Nuts”, the empty shells. You had your Ls, your Ns, one and done. A few of us were worried that the hammer was coming down, (oh, that was yesterday)!, that today’s puzzle might be a killer. Well, NUT so! Easy, breezy, thank you for the gift! The eye candy? Nothing (really, how many times can I say NUT) really jumps out at me. There’s the man walking a dog, and some background bushes. We got Pecans, Cashews, Almonds. But aren’t those peanut shells on the ground?… What the SHELL? So, that’s all I got, folks. Let’s face it, you need the material to make that pair of PUNts…and today, it’s coming up short!

PS: A few random thoughts for the week’s end…1- GO Warriors! 2- Oye Comey va? 3- We went 24 hours without “Trump Tweets” 4- Donald Duck, the fowl.. 5- Exactly what is a LIE today? 6- Who is that adorable man in the new Ford Focus commercial? 7-Remember those days with all good news stories? 8- M&M Caramels…why? 9- John McCain?…10- GO WARRIORS!!!!

Wishing us all an ALMOND JOY day! 🐿 πŸ™‹πŸ»

  1. When the iINFANT came into the HOUSE, a new SLANT on daily activities made midnight feelings VIABLE, but drove the neighbors NUTS and into SHELL shock.
No problem with th e puzzle but viable stopped me in my tracks.

  2. Viable, really? That doesn’t seem possible! πŸ˜‚ Good morning, Earl. Great post, as usual. Maybe viable will be the ‘gotcha word today. Remains to be seen. I couldn’t “get off the ground” with today’s puzzle. BlasΓ©, blasΓ©…Hope you have a great day! πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

  3. Yes viable made me get out the wretched pen–don’t recall seeing it used before , but perhaps my memory is not as sharp as yours For those who notice details , I repeated the I in INFANT and did not put it in caps– so much for being distracted today by a charming young lady while showing her today’s sentence at the laundryπŸ™„πŸ’©πŸ’ƒπŸΏ

    • Way to go Earl! Being charmed this early in the morning! And I’m sure you πŸ˜‰ charmed her as well.! The Fold and Gold! ..Who knew? LOL…And I’m loving the red dress emoji! Great choice! The typos? 🎢”Don’t mean a thing, if it ain’t got that swing…”🎢. Don’t sweat the small stuff, no one cares about the typos! Oh viable? LOL…Sorry, I almost forgot! I’m still intrigued by the laundry! Yes, pretty sure it’s been used before. Different jumble most likely. So, here’s to the rest of your day getting even more interesting! Enjoy! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  4. Angela and Earl – you made me laugh as usual. Needed my pad to back into viable, first trying al at the end and then le. I don’t know what kind of birds you have, Angela, but many are not doing well elsewhere, with climate change, habitat loss, pesticides, etc. I don’t like all birds either but I love hearing them sing in the morning and the past two years I was happy to have robins’ nests. Robins are especially vulnerable to lawn chemicals because they forage on the ground.

    • Good morning, 🎢Sweet Caroline🎢 Glad We could give you a chuckle! Mea culpa, I knew I’d “ruffle some feathers” “with my bird comments. I’ve got them all. Every kind, every color. My dislike stems from them constantly nesting in my awnings. Relentless. We sit out there, we sun out there, we cook and eat out there. It’s a problem. You are truly the environmentalist, and you know I share your concerns, but beautiful melodies aside, I just wish they’d nest in the trees. The squirrels? Don’t get me started! LOL. Have the best day! β€οΈπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Oh,and Viable. πŸ˜€. Now I’m distracted, because I’m sitting out here trying to enjoy a nice cappuccino while reading all the mess in the press, and the squirrels are rendezvousing! Do you think they can read? Yes, so far the clunker of the day. πŸΏπŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Angela, I can see why that would really bother you. I don’t know enough about birds to say why they’re choosing your awnings, if there are trees to nest in, but maybe someone else knows.

        • Yes, it’s a problem. Sadly, I keep taking the nests down as soon as I see them, and it can be within hours sometimes. I don’t let them go, because I don’t want them to have a chance to leave eggs. And while I’m taking them down, I hear the birds chirping up a protest while hanging out in a nearby tree! I mean, what do they expect? Squatters rights? And all the while I’m thinking…”Tippi Hedren”‘, you know? The stress is brutal! LOL. πŸ£πŸ™‹πŸ»

  5. This was not the difficult puzzle that everyone has been itching for. Had the answer before the easy CW’s, again.

  6. Sunshine, sunscreen🎢, Sunething’s gotta give…🎢…See ‘ya later…πŸŒžπŸ™‹πŸ»

        • 🎼 “Woke up, it was a Chelsea morning, and the first thing that I saw
Was the sun through yellow curtains, and a rainbow on my wall
Blue, red, green and gold to welcome you, crimson crystal beads to beckon
          Oh, won’t you stay
          We’ll put on the day
          There’s a sun show every second” 🎼 🌈 πŸ˜Žβ˜€οΈ

          • 🎢”There was milk and toast and honey and a bowl of oranges too”🎢…

          • Which do you prefer??Joni Mitchell or Judy Collins? Supposedly Bill Clinton decided to name his daughter Chelsea after hearing this song πŸŽΆπŸ™‹πŸ»

            • 🎼 Woke up and it was Chelsea Manning on the first page of my news…🎡
I prefer Joni if only for the unique amazing guitar playing. And her voice is unequaled, and she did write the song, and just for good measure, painted her own beautiful album cover! Judy Collins has a beautiful voice, was an excellent interpreter of other’s songs (notably Joni and Leonard Cohen) and wrote a few good ones of her own, but neither she nor anyone else comes close to Joni.

Hey, shoot Mike an email about e problems with credentials on today’s blog if he doesn’t already know about it. See my comment on today’s blog 6/10/17.

  7. Hi Mike et al! QUICK & EASY!! I wrote the answer in ink immediately, then SLANT and HOUSE. After a split second pause on the third word, I wrote the letters in a circle, which is a favored technique for Rita & me, and out jumped VIABLE. The INFANT came to me quickly, probably for a hug because I am a grandma.
Busy day today because we have been putting off all week going to Walmart for some mundane purchases.
Enjoy the rest of your day! See you tomorrow.

    • Hi, Lelia. Yes, it was way easy today. I think we’re all looking for that challenging one. Hopefully soon. Hope you’re enjoying your day also! πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

  8. I got VIABLE right away, but had to work backwards to get the letters and still take 4 minutes to get INFANT. Must be because I tend to share W. C. Fields’ attitudes toward children most of the time.

Speaking of wildilfe, city squirrels ARE different! When I used to walk through Lincoln Park in Chicago, they would walk right up to your feet and say “GIMME A PEANUT!!!”

    • Lefty, That was just part oh his raffish bluster, don’t you think? He built his career around that persona. And wasn’t it kids and dogs? The squirrels? Please. Remember a few months back, I mentioned the guy out here that was arrested for shooting the squirrel? And he did it because the squirrel, “gave him a dirty look”? The city squirrels are a whole ‘nother animal…πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

  9. Had a stumble with INFANT and SLANT. I felt like a baby being on such a bias. Then got hung up with NUTELLA. Off to get my pacifier!

    • Hey Harry. How’s it going? Nutella. Nectar of the gods for a lot of my tribe. Me? Meh…not so much. How’s the tomatoes? We tried a few of our plums, not sweet enough yet. The basil? Flourishing! Good to see you back! πŸΏπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • Harry . Sitting at dinner. A woman passes by, wearing this hi-low top. I’m thinking, “Nice top…” 🎢”And then it hit me….”🎢 ” Bias! Slant! I coulda ‘ had a V-8! Went right over my head! Apologies are in order….See you tomorrow! πŸ™‹πŸ»

    • Hi, Lauren. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Welcome! I’m just a pinch hitter here, the Ballpark belongs to our Coach, Mike. He’s sweet enough to let me play in it! Thank you so much for your kind words. You’d be surprised the random thoughts you’ll find here! I just want to clarify two. First, John McCain, the utmost respect. Whether I agree with his politics or not, what the man went through, in the name of our country, should never be forgotten. What happened yesterday saddened me, if for no other reason than that it happened on such a large scale. I’ve put my size 8 in my mouth many a time, I’m sure we all have. To have it seen by so many people, and then to be humiliated on Twitter? My heart goes out to him. And secondly, that adorable man in the Ford commercial? Uh, you’ll have to fight me for him! LOL! Thanks again! πŸ™‹πŸ»

  10. Mike…πŸ’†πŸ». Do you see the temple massage in the emoji! You’re killing me! Psychic , huh? Jesus, save us! The peanuts was a little eerie! Perhaps Jeff did it for you? They didn’t belong there; you never know…The Asimov? Addicting. I did get hooked. Like a Nashville catfish! The key tho, is NOT to look at the answers! LOL. 3-zip? See, now you talk peanuts! βšΎοΈπŸ™‹πŸ»

    • 🎡 Nash-ville-Cat..Fish swim in country water…. Ok, it’s a stretch, I admit.

      • 🎢”Nashville cats, been playin’ since they’s babies…”🎢. My favorite line. No, good one! After I wrote it I realized Mike wouldn’t know what I meant. πŸ€πŸ™‹πŸ».

        • I like the line you quoted before – “and up North ain’t nobody buys ’em, and I said, But I will!”
          That and “musical proverbial knee-high”.
Best line until Al Kooper said “And in seconds flat I was proselytized.”

          • And the way he says..🎢But I wheel….” 🎢Great lyrics. All of it. The Spoonful were really good. And everyone said…”hmm, Lovin’Spoonful…” Uh, ok! LOL. So, it took what like 3 minutes in for them to say Kardashian? Please, Gag me with 2 Lovin Spoonfuls…πŸ€

              • I thought you meant here watching Warriors. Don’t know what time we were talking about the quiz, but we’ve got another convert!

              • No, he don’t do hockey at all. He’s going to enjoy it. Today’s the first day I messed up at it. Medieval History…epic fail.

              • Nothing matters until the last 2 minutes — unless it does.
Game 5 ticket holders are holding their breath…

              • Yep. Any articles in your paper about John McCain? Do you think it was just fatigue? Kinds scary ya know.

              • Nothing in particular. I thought Trump was finished when he insulted the true war hero and the GOP sold their soul when they didn’t cut him then and there, but of course there was worse to come (Gold Star Mother).

              • And worse and worse….I keep thinking about how the stories went around about Reagan. That he was showing signs of growing ill while he was still President and it was kept under wraps. It’s unsettling.

              • Trump is not getting worse. You’re a New Yorker Angela – don’t you have firsthand experience that he has ALWAYS been like this? His rants on Jim Rome’s sports radio show years ago about Rosie O’Donnell were typical – “I think I will sue Rosie, just to annoy her.” Disgusting, and there’s so much more.

            • I wanted to type Skeeter Davis’ southern accent in “End of the World”, but I was afraid I might offend Marlene in MS. Later, perhaps; it’s so cute. Did you ever see my link to the British show of the same era, 1965? With Dusty Springfield, Animals, Kinks, Moody Blues, Beatles, and on and on? If not, I’ll repost later.

              • Said Goodbye? No I didn’t check it out. I forgot. Ok, send it again cause I’ll copy it to hold.

              • Game doesn’t look good. Here’s the link:
If you like Skeeter Davis era music, I must recommend this video to you. I find it amazing; a labor of love. This guy edited down a 2 hour concert to 90 minutes, and it’s the 1965 British New Musical Express summary of top groups. The description has a list of acts with the time in the video where they begin, so you can go to whatever you want and skip what you don’t. Dusty Springfield, Moody Blues, The Seekers, Herman’s Hermits, Them with Van Morrison, Donovan, The Animals, The Kinks, and, notably, The (young, attractive) Rolling Stones, and The Beatles at their British Invasion peak. The cream of the crop frozen at a perfect moment in time.

              • Mike came back to win..if he wasn’t here earlier, he won’t be here. Mets lost.

              • In SPECTACULAR fashion. Smile through the tears 😒 “Smile though your heart is breaking…”

              • Steve, you notice Paul hasn’t been posting like more than a week I think…

              • Last one on June 1, I think. Someone was going on vacation, but I’ve lost track of who.

            • Skeeter Davis:
“Don’t thy know, it’s tha in-ed, of tha whorld.”
So cute; my apologies to all my Southern friends to whom Mary, Marry, and Merry all sound the same. Also “all” and “oil” (from my Lynchburg, Virginia uncle.)
I have a really great story about my wife and her Dutch parents in a Southern restaurant, but it’s too long to type right now – later.

  11. Welcome back to Oakland for Game 5, world! Maybe we’ll finally win one at home! πŸ€

    • I can’t believe I fell out! I was recording it, so at least I’ll get to see it later. Sorry to leave you hanging. How cool is this, tho? The way it should be! Home for the Gold! Psyched! πŸ€πŸ™‹πŸ»

      • No problem at all falling out, Angela! I just figured (and hoped) that you were getting some sleep for your health’s sake! And remember to give me a pass when I do the same to you. Our time difference often means that I have to suddenly drop out at night to do stuff, so don’t worry or take offense.
So you were recording it and I wasn’t? What a switch! At least you’re not using tape or a wax cylinder, I presume!
Another switch – we’re watching basketball and hockey fights are almost breaking out all over! I think the Warriors will be ready. Scary thought – Kevin Durant is still getting adjusted to the team. Next year, there’s every reason to believe that he’ll be even better!

        • I keep finding these messages with delayed emails. 6/9 and 6/10. Yea, this was when I fell out. I don’t give out the passes, but I am adjusting to the time difference! LOL. Can’t wait until the Stanley Cups over tho, because I do hate worrying about tipping you off! Yea, I started recording it, because Luigi 1 fell asleep and I realized I had no back up if I started nodding off! Good move! I caught the fights. It was inevitable. Tension was wayyyy high, and tempers flared from first quarter. It was so obvious, no love lost. I’m kind of happy it went this way, because I rather see them win out there. They wouldn’t have gotten the love in Cleveland. Let the partying happen where it belongs. Loving Durant, he’s a gentkeman and a sweetheart. And he writes! He gives back, he’s well respected and he brought his “thunder”. He’ll be a force to be reckoned with. Go Warriors! Ok, I think I got them all now. I need to delete the emails, and if I come across any more, they’ll have to wait. We ate, we drank, we’re in the sun….Risposo! Later. πŸŒžπŸ™‹πŸ»

      • That would be the first time a Bay Area team won a championship at home since the 1974 A’s.

  12. Start punning, Angela, tomorrow’s post is already up!
    And get some sleep! πŸ™‚
