Good Thursday morning everyone!  The weekend is right around the corner and it’s shaping up to be sunny and warm — finally!  DAWNED was the only clue word that I had a difficult time with even though we’ve seen it numerous times in the past.  I’m not sure how you feel about past tense words being used as clues in the puzzle but I’m not a fan of them.  Moving along to the cartoon, I was able to solve it without writing it down for the second day in a row which is an unusual feat for me.  The cartoon was excellent and you could definitely feel the tension between both of the characters.  Jeff did a super job with their body language as both characters had their fingers pointed at each other as well as their mouths open wide — it made me a bit uncomfortable just looking at it!  The letter layout was weak in my opinion as AND was spelled out for us in order leaving just the other two words to be solved.  It’s easy to criticize the work of others so rather than end my post with a negative observation, I figured I’d offer a constructive solution.  I would have moved DAWNED to the number three slot and used the first D in the word as a clue letter.  David is a master at his craft so I’m sure he had a very good reason for leaving it the way he did.  Enjoy your day and I look forward to seeing you right back here tomorrow!  😀

  3. Good morning, Mike, Good morning, Everyone. NAILED IT! Sunk my TEETH right into it, and just FILLED it in! Had it AWL done INCISOR a minute! Great puzzle, and 🎶”Oh, so easy to love.”🎶. I was totally ENAMELed! (Well maybe not totally…The dentist, BRACE yourself, the dentist?..WOODn’t you know it? .Purple top! KNOT for nothing, this can’t be acciDENTAL! Whatever happened to dressing in those PEARLY WHITES)? Sweet TOOTH or not, this puzzle was a piece of cake! Sadly, with our two main characters looking so upset, we’re missing those Colgate SMILES, but there’s no missing the cartoons message. HAMMERed it home. ‘Gotta LEVEL with you..Awesome details! TOOTH be told, it was a give-away, a gift! The angry faces, the Dentist and the Carpenter, the question using “Argued” and “Fought”…served it all right up to us on a SILVER PLATEer!! (I was looking for some CROWN MOLDing, but the pic didn’t go high up enough). The words? BRUSHed them right off. 1234. No GAPS, same old GRIND. Just easy, breezy. Calm…like TranscenDENTAL Meditation. Nothing unNERVEing here! Today’s eye candy? I SAW so much…I was torn between the nail behind the carpenters ear, or the tape on his hammer handle, the nails in the other carpenters mouth, or the Grin-Smile magazine in the dentists hand. (Then that made me think Hoof and MOUTH..But that’s me, ABCESSive compulsive)! I’m going with the nails in the carpenters mouth, it reminds me of my Father. Brought up a lot of those old FILLINGS. ROOTine for me.

    So, you all know the DRILL…Enjoy your day, and don’t let anything have a negative IMPACT on you…I’m PULLing for us all! 😷 🔨 🙋🏻

  5. Another outstanding one-two punch, Mike and Angela. The answer was easy but I had to back into both dawned and outlaw and needed my pad for outlaw. Mike, I’m fairly new to Jumble (one year) but I’m already seeing some words repeat. The ed words add more possibilities with a three or four letter base, which I like, as long as such words aren’t used too often.

        • LOL..😂😂❤️. But you came to your senses, right? LOL…YES, I still would! One of my brothers, by some God forsaken twist of fate ended up raising Yankee fans for children! The humanity…!               • What? Not sure how I lost ya, but I’m watching Min/Sea now. And leftover Italian food is good cold/hot/leftover, or basically any way! So many carbs but delicious! I have a couple slices of leftover spinach and artichoke pizza from CPK left and I plan on reheating it around the 5th inning. No school tomorrow = day off. 😊

It looked weird, but it did DAWN on me right away….Maybe I just got it like that! 😅😅 I’m going to send you an email right now. I didn’t go through my mail all day because I was glued to the TV..I should have sent it sooner…

                NHL, yeah, I mean 6-0 and no relief in sight, come on. Not a glutton for punishment.

              • Well, yeah, it’s an old timey guy. Few older men at the club..they cook, the keep everybody “in order”..That’s why the other night I left from there early. Most places have bar food..these guys make stuffed shells, sausage and peppers..etc. So all of a sudden, there’s a plus one and a plus one..and it was mobbed! Got too rowdy. But I won one of the pools, so he wanted to tell me. Guaranteed he don’t text! LOL.

              • I only like cheese ones. Lasagna I would never make without meat. Sacrilege! But there’s nothing to doing the shells with meats Do you make lasagna? Same theory. Just stuff the shells the same way. I could hook up a cheese syringe and be happy the rest of my life. I made French onion soup yday and all that melted cheese. This is why my cholesterol was NOT good last time out. 😅

              • But my ricotta mix is bland. I’ve tried everything and it’s still dry. Parsley, garlic, mozzarella, S&P, parmesan — nothing works….

              • Cut back on the pepper. Black pepper, right? And switch from the parm to Pecorino Romano cheese. Are you using fresh mozzarella, or the package stuff? World of difference…

              • Do you have any Italian stores near you? I’m such a mozzarella snob! LOL..It has to be fresh, wet and dripping. You don’t need to grate, it’ll pull apart in your hands and you just shred it with your fingers. You know with all these cheeses, you really don’t need to add salt either..you’re looking at a salt overload on its own.

              • No Italian grocers near me but there is a specialty cheese shop just down the road. My fav cheese there is the truffle pecorino — but I digress. Fresh mozzarella just might do the trick…

              • See and I don’t like the truffle one. I think there’s nothing like Pecorino. Parm is Anerican to us! LOL. I’m not trying to sound flip, it’s just a fact.

              • Love the crystals in the aged cheeses. And anything with truffles is my favorite. Cheese is my downfall as I can’t resist it AT ALL.

              • Like me. Obsessed. I go into these places and I’m in heaven. Only thing sometimes when I leave the aromas stay in my hair! LOL..I love the smell so much, but not in my hair! LOL. So I usually make it my last stop, then I run home and wash my hair!

              • Went to Eataly last year and had some good food and picked up some unique products. You’re lucky to live in a great location to be a foodie.

              • You know if you’re going to the cheese stiore, you could try fresh ricotta also if they have it. Such a difference from the Polly O or Sargento. You’ll taste the difference.

              • They don’t have it. The sweet older woman who is the proprietor said there wasn’t enough demand to carry it. There was something else that she didn’t carry that struck me as odd but I don’t recall right now.

              • I figured. I can understand that. I guess no Italians around there, uh? What you can do, the next time you go to Boston, get a ton of stuff. Cook it all fresh, and you can freeze it. The other night I made 3 trays of lasagna, the big ones. I was excited to have enough to freeze for another time. But they eat like vultures…I only had it tonight because I took the piece out before they got at it. You could do that. Boston has some great shops

              • We eat in the North End quite often. 45 minutes of travel time but you’re right, soooooo worth it. Always pick up a few cannolis for the ride back.

You’re killing me, really. Do you eat sfogliatelles? Jeez, I may have killed it. I think that’s how you spell it. I’m going to have to get them now trow morning. Before they get here, they can go to the bakery and get them fresh…and still hot! I do feel like the damn dog…that bell ringing! ROTFL

              • Yes it was. No, warm donuts have nothing on warm sfogliatelles. God, I kniw I’m screwing up the spelling. Have you ever ate them? If not, next time you’re in Boston, you have to go to an Italian bakery and get some. Trust me.

              • Best FO soup I had was in Paris a couple of years ago. Go figure! Chateaubriand was melt in your mouth too. The restaurant was named Le Coup Chou and the Beatles ate there so it must have been good!

              • I sure do make my own but it takes too long. A restaurant near me makes their own and my wife knows to get it for me whenever I’m not feeling well. It always hits the spot. The Swiss cheese and bread are phenomenal! Now I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow. 😊

      • Those would have been good. What I’ve realized is that there aren’t an unlimited number of five and six letter words to use, when words that are too obscure or inappropriate for various reasons are eliminated.

  7. Morning DAWNED on the OUTLAW gang who had HOISTED a truck load of ONIONS from the expressway, only to be thwarted by the state police who had laid down a ” strip of nails ” to stop the TOOTHLESS driver and his cohorts.
    Another easy day for me with no writing required.

  9. My husband was a dentist so I knew it was tooth and nail right off the bat. Clue words fell into place easily. I like the fact that the dentist is female. Love the little graphic of the tooth and nail fighting. Rainy day here in San Fracisco but am keeping my fingers crossed that the sun will continue to shine on the Warriors.   10. Great post Mike and I love the animated gif, especially because the tooth is wearing the same Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars that the graduating senior girl was wearing in the other day’s cartoon. And Angela, that’s the sole extent of my knowledge of footwear, shoe-nuff.

When we discussed the International audience joining in? No way would these comments “translate”. We mis-take each other at times…Blurred lines. Anyway, the remark was foolish and unwarranted and I felt for Tanaka. Bad enough the poor guy got beat up. The pollen…one of my neighbors is outside as we speak literally vacuuming his deck! It’s a struggle! 🙋🏻

  13. Mike, thank you so much for telling me about your field trip. You know how much I enjoy reading the details of a fun outing. You & your son in a picture together; what a treasure, worth a thousand words. As a former teacher, you are a VERY SPECIAL DAD for volunteering to chaperone children on a field trip.
    At first LivePD was on Friday but then they added Saturday. Is either night better to watch? Can’t you just see the Arizona police going after Earl’s onion thieves?

    • Hi Lelia! I’ll miss these days when he gets older, but now I have a photo that I can remember forever. LivePD had to add a second night of action because they are the #1 live show on television (as of last week). It’s live so there’s no telling which night will be better — anything can happen at any time. Earl is a genius with the sentences, and Angela is so witty with her puns. Steve, after reading the Ostler article yesterday in which he suggested that football would be a marching band, etc., I was thinking that we should come up with a genre, style, or type of music that would go with your Ice Hockey. I quickly though of 3 but can’t find where I wrote them. I just now Googled music genres and there are a LOT!
    I am still embarrassed about what you thought after reading my post of the words to the Mary Poppins song “I Love to Laugh.” I promise, no more Mary Poppins songs. By the way, all 3 of us ordered ice water to drink but then I added a Sprite.
    Thanks again for telling me about Red & Rover and The Elderberries, just read both of them. Close to Home was weirdly funny as usual; would be interesting to meet the guy who thinks that one up (John McSometing).
    I’m just babbling today so I’ll close & talk with I have something interesting to say.

      I thought the same about hockey music, but all I could come up with was a Warren Zevon song called “Hit Somebody!” that I posted for Angela the other day – you can read it there or Google it. And there’s a Canadian band named “Five For Fighting.”
