1. Hello All – Not a bad Sunday for me, though I had to work through the possibilities to find access. I figured the answer started with in and probably ended with able and just had to fill in the middle. Another fun post, Angela, along with some good advice.

2. I thought it would be a Mother’s Day themed puzzle and they didn’t disappoint us. Figured out the cartoon answer first so worked backwards though really didn’t have any difficulty with the words. Sometimes it falls into place and sometimes it doesn’t . Off to breakfast with my daughter & grandson and my son and his wife are barbecuing tonight so I’m having a fun day. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who fit that category.

     Since you like “Who’s on first”, do not miss today’s “Pearls Before Swine” comic. Seems like the theme was also done by someone else, but I don’t know WHO.

     The E Street Band is probably the greatest garage-type band – not surprising since their guitarist has a radio show called “Little Steven’s Underground Garage”.

     Those sharks you were asking about – I did some research and found that Capistrano Beach is about 490 miles from here – about the same distance NYC is from Greenville North Carolina, Akron Ohio, or Quebec. So yeah, it was in the news here, but not a big story in my local immediate area

     • Hi Steve. My paper carries Pearls Before Swine. I had seen it this morning and it made me laugh. I’ve heard Stevie Van Zandt’s show and never made the connection. The whole garage thing never registered. How weird is that? So here I am like 3K miles from the sharks, and yet the news covered the story. Pics and everything! ‘Gotta love NY news! 🦈🙋🏻

4. Hi all – AGENCY was the only word I paused on. We just had another ACC word on Thursday, ACCENT. Had to write down the letters, saw it didn’t end in ING, but -ABLE popped right out, as did the answer, and as I hope will happen for that Mother-to-be in 9 months, although she looks like she’s going to collapse or faint, as would I.

5. Good afternoon. Happy Mothers Day to all those who earned our respect. (There is a song in there somewhere). Had no trouble with the words,got them all fairly quick. The cartoon answer was another story. It was a ten dollar word and I have five dollar pockets. Hope to have better luck tomorrow. Stay well.

6. Hi! I expected a Mother’s Day Jumble but was as surprised as the mom & dad in the cartoon that it was about quads!!!! Clue words came to me easily. My cartoon answer solve was ditto to yours, Carolyn; “able” at the end, “in” at the beginning, fill in the middle, done!
   While I taught school, I experienced a lot of poorly parented children. My Happy Mothers Day goes to anyone who has ever been a loving mother to any child, yours or one birthed by a sibling, cousin, or friend.
   I also saw the results of some excellent parenting. The parents of my 3rd grader who read at 7th grade level told me that they began reading, speaking, & singing to her while she was still in the womb.
   I mentioned reading skill rather than how very much that little girl was loved because summer is coming & the kids will be out of school. Please take your children to the library every week & keep them reading. Reading to your children at an early age, I began somewhere between 6 & 9 months, and starting a little collection of favorite books to read to them over & over until you think you’ll scream, prepares them academically for school more than anything else. Throw in a lot of love and some loving discipline and they will do great things.
   My sweet mother died 20 years ago. At first I would cry when I saw the Mothers Day cards in the store, but now I look at one with embossing on it which she loved and feel happy that I gave her many of those.

   I guess the only connection to Mother’s Day is the reference to ‘Big Mama Thornton’ .

8. Hi, Steve. I was wondering the other day what song came with my first Elvis 45, Hound Dog, but could not remember that it was Don’t Be Cruel. I treasured my
   Elvis 45’s so much that I left them at home in my closet when I went to college even though I took a record player. I was afraid someone might ask to borrow one, I knew I would not say no, and there was a possibility that it would get scratched. I may as well have taken them, because while I was gone, either my mom or sister got rid of them. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

   • I still have all my 45 plus 13 78 records. I have Elvis on both speeds. Every once in awhile I break them out. I listen to the 50s and 60s in the car. Otherwise it’s 660am or game time 710am. Nothing like those old songs.

       • HA! 45’s, 33 1/3’s, AND 78’s! And we both play Bocce! 🏐🙋🏻

         • My grandfather also had some smaller size 33 1/3 ‘s, I think 10″ instead of 12″, along with some in colored vinyl like all red.
           One of my best high school friends, Vito Moreno, had a bocce court in his backyard where we spent many a hot summer evening.

             • Ugh doesn’t do justice. So many words come to mind. Yep, last of the single digits, it was very touching. See if you can catch it somewhere. He’s such a class act. I’ve never seen a red vinyl record, and I wasn’t even aware there were 2 sized 78’s. I’m afraid to touch them half the time, because they’re so old, and breakable. I thought the same thing with DJing. And most of the time they’d be drinking, and I’m thinking what’s the alcohol going to do to these records?

             • 2 sized 33 1/3, not 78’s.

I never followed the Yankees, and I think that wasn’t long after 9/11, so I didn’t care about sports at all, but Steve, I’m a New Yorker; we ALL talked about the ‘flip’. He always impressed, he was like a dancer out there, right? I think everyone respected and appreciated what he brought to the game itself. Watching the Ducks?

             • Steve, I’ve never read the Post. It’s kind of like the Enquirer to me. Their headlines are so obnoxious most of the time. Although, the past year or two, the Daily News has begun to stoop to their level. Funny, it doesn’t feel like that long ago, right? But, it’s more than 15 years! Last night, the news stations here were beating that ‘flip’ story to death! Were your ears ringing? Later. 🙋🏻
