Good morning everyone! My Freshman outing! SPRINGing into action…
Breezed through the first two words, with TRICKY slightly living up to it’s name. Rickety first came to mind (?) IMPEDE caused a little eye tic, because at first glance I thought, ‘ends in ED’. Hard habit to break. The answer came in like a breath of fresh air; the drawing giving us the Mother stating winter’s over, and the wording mentioning April. And the Slinky! 🎶🎶 “It’s Slinky it’s Slinky, ….Everyone knows it’s Slinky”! 🎶🎶 The SPRINGy toy! We were given top notch graphics: the blooming tree, sprouting buds, and that good old tire swing. And Mom! What about Mom?! That hairdo so chic, the apron, the skirt, her makeup on, and wearing heels! In the house! The women of the 40’s were so glamorous!! Today’s puzzle…All in all, child’s play!

  Great start, Angela! Easy one for me today. I thought at first 1946 was war-related, but it’s the year the slinky began. I don’t imagine the plastic slinky has as much spring as the metal one. And I agree, Happy Earth Day. It needs some attention.

What’re the odds? LOL…I don’t remember how long ago I learned of it, and wouldn’t have thought of it without Harry’s post. To be honest, I can’t imagine why any woman would be ok getting drenched with water, IN PUBLIC! But obviously, it’s a big part of the festivities! But, 40-50 thousand people? That’s a lot of water! I also had trouble with impede but then looked at the answer and saw spring . It was an even solve after that. I enjoy the daily comments as well as the puzzle to start my day. Enjoy the weekend Even though it is a rainy and gloomy one

Good morning, Marlene. I find IMPEDE to be an odd word, like Thursday’s EXCEED. Pronounced the same, yet there’s that e-consonant-e, VS consonant ee. I still think EXCEED looks wrong! I so enjoy reading everyone’s posts; and my local paper offers 4 puzzles, so I start my day with Sudoku, Jumble, and 2 Crosswords. Rainy and overcast here in NY also. Hope you have a great Earth Day! 🌍 🙋🏻

Good morning and happy earth day. Like everyone else I was stuck on impede and asked my son for help and he gave me the word in ten seconds. The cartoon answer took some time because I was hung up on the word ending in “ing”. Once it’s in your head it’s hard to dismiss it.Enjoyed your comment on cartoon Angela. I solved the clue words without any difficulty, but the jumble answer had me buffaloed for a few moments. First I saw “item spring” and then “time spring”. I thought geez, that doesn’t make any sense . I should be embarrassed to admit that. That was a true senior moment!

He lives on the beach out here in NY and somewhere in the Caribbean I think and half the year he’s sailing. He just seems like the happiest man to me. I look at that “Toes”video and I’m grinning all thru it. You had to grin, no? He turned 70 in October…looks and sounds just like Zac Brown, IMO. Well Zac Brown sounds like him! LOL. Today is Thunder Over Louisville with rainy, cold weather that tells me to stay home this year. Everyone have a safe and joyful weekend. ☔🎆

  Thank you, Sue. I was stressing over getting it posted right. Especially after Mike said it’d be out there as soon as I “hit the button” and no “backsies” as we used to say growing up in Brooklyn! (Mike didn’t say “backsies”, I’m sure he’s never heard the word)’. LOL. I think we may have an original Slinky up in the attic; I haven’t thought about one in years. The ones today are plastic, right? No comparison. This is my first time hearing Thunder Over Louisville. Is it a festival of some kind! I’m going to look it up later.     Angela, The Kentucky Derby Festival starts about two weeks before Derby day and has many activities; hot air balloon race, marathon race, steamboat race, bed race, Pegasus Parade, Chow Wagon, several galas/balls, etc. Thunder Over Louisville is one of the first things and is a the largest fireworks display in North America and includes an air show that starts in the afternoon. Louisville gets a lot of out of town visitors for Thunder and attendance is usually over 650,000. Fireworks start at 9:30 PM from barges on the Ohio River and from one of our many bridges to Indiana. I watched the fireworks on TV and it was quite a show, however, just too cold for me. I don’t think I am giving a very good description of what goes on, however, as you probably guess, the next two weeks are party time in Louisville. BTW, yes I am a night owl! 😉
