AFTER REALIZING THAT THEY’D RECEIVED ONLY BULLS, THE NEW DAIRY FARM WAS AN —

AREDREULDFUI = “UDDER” FAILURE

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  UNFOLD and FUMING were the only two words that gave me a hint of trouble this morning.  With all of the clue words solved it was on to the cartoon.  The letter layout left the solution very cryptic and with the quotes thrown in there, I didn’t even attempt to solve it blind.  Reading the dialogue and sentence, my mind was thinking the solution would have something to do with milk.  The word “fluid” grabbed my eye as it was practically spelled out in the letters.  Did David do this on purpose to throw us off?  It worked on me if he did and I tried to make it work but gave up after a few minutes.  I did some self jumbling of the letters and found UDDER by chance leaving FAILURE to be quickly solved for the finish.  Overall a great puzzle and wonderful cartoon.  The bull on the farmer’s hat was a nice detail by Jeff.  Enjoy the day and I’ll see you tomorrow!  🙂

  1. Good morning, Mike, good morning everyone. Very aMOOsing puzzle today! The words were a breeze, but the answer COWED me for a brief moment. Reading ‘only bulls’ I thought maybe the second word might be ‘female’. Could I have been mistaken with ‘fuming’, did I need the M? Couldn’t be though, because the word called for 7 letters, and we had no S. And then I realized that the question said..”the new dairy farm was AN…” So I knew the first word had to start with a vowel. That STEERED me in the right direction, and I saw ‘udder’. Failure feel right into place. As for last night….Heartbreak for the BULLdogs. And obvious that last years loss for the Tar Heels was their CATTLEyst going into the game. Great game. Lelia’s Josh, …Holy COW, amazing! Major kudos, and that’s no BULL. So, I think I’ve MILKed this enough, no? (Although I could do this til the COWS come home)… Wishing everyone a great Tuesday, and let’s remember, we should always love one anUDDER. (Key the groans…) 🙋🏻

  2. Good morning. Watched the voice last night and caught your grandson “Josh”. I enjoyed the Bruce Lee reference to his high kick. Glad to see he survived the knockout round. He has a good voice,terrific smile and a clean look. “josh goes on”. I’m glad for you. I can visualize you right now standing and pointing to him with great pride saying “That’s my grandson”Continued success. Now back to jumble. Found the words fairly easy and I screwed up the letters and somehow had dried failure. Thanks for the tip regarding the vowel. Never too old to learn. Your wit had me laughing. Till tomorrow and stay well.

    • I was thinking the kick and dead fly references were more suited for the Karate Kid movie rather than a Bruce Lee one but it doesn’t matter. Well said, Paul! 😀

  3. Angela you used all the bovine references I was planning on using. I failed on solving the puzzle w/o help. I will just stand around and chew my CUD all day! Yeah Josh.

  4. With so much on my mind today, I got all the words without a problem, but no solve…better luck tomorrow. I watched the game last night and did manage to catch the segment of the Voice that Josh was on —-was so happy that he won his segment — back to the game so not sure how the program ended,

  5. My left brain led me to fluid too, Mike. Once the quotation marks were acknowledged, my right brain kicked in and udder popped into my head and failure easily followed.

    Last night’s Zags game was a heartbreaker. Though the Heels disrupted their game, the Zags did not play their best game of the year. The second half officiating was abominable. Neither team found a rhythm.

    Congratulations to Lelia’s grandson, Josh. He has presence, good looks and a VOICE. Dust In The Wind is not an easy song to sing!!

  6. On your recommendation I watched the voice last night and was glad I did. Josh is phenomenal. What a voice. Leila should be so proud of her grandson. Oh by the way puzzle was easy today

  8. I thought it might take me till the “cows came home” to solve the puzzle but I knew the vowel rule too so that helped with the first word.. I too stumbled on unfold but no problem with the rest of it. Josh is great. Hope he continues to prevail. He’s very talented. Have a good day everyone.

  10. Hi! Easy solve for me because I read the cartoon first & got an idea of what I was looking for. First 2 words went fast. I got UNFOLD quickly because of immediately seeing the prefix (as did Steve), and as I wrote the letter “u” I got UDDER. I got FUMING fast because of immediately seeing the suffix. Don’t always remember those tried & true techniques, but I did today.
    Mike, congratulations on your Red Sox win!! Way to go, Red Sox, keep it up!!
    John, I was disappointed that the Zags lost the game because they are such a fine team of young men who play fair and are pleasing to watch.
    Thank you very much to all of you who watched Josh last night and have said such complimentary things about him this morning. I appreciate every word!! I am so proud of him but am still getting used to the new rocker Josh. He has always been Joshua to me, a boy who sang in church, wrote music about helping & inspiring others, and was quiet with a hint of shyness. He and his dad waited a while before letting Grandma know that he had sung in a biker bar, which was the first thing The Voice televised. One round to go called The Live Round, whatever that means.

Thank goodness I decided to glance back through the fifty-plus comments from yesterday to see what got added and there were your wonderfully complimentary words from this morning, which I will add to the Josh journal. When Josh auditioned for The Voice, he was only 17 so his dad was part of the package, but now that he is 18, he will go it alone. His mom was sad having to pack him up to be gone for more than a month to prepare for The Live Round, but he’s looking forward to training with Adam. She said they had to get his suitcase under 50 pounds, and I laughed & laughed when she told me they finally made it by removing 3 or 4 bottles of hair conditioner. I don’t remember how many he had left, but it was a lot.
