CARTOON ANSWER:

HSSWOONIT = ON HIS “TOWS”

Happy Wednesday morning everyone!  What an excellent puzzle we had this morning so let’s get right to it.  The clue words were all jumbled very well and took some time to figure out.  I would say that ONWARD gave me the most trouble followed by WOUND and then FIXATE.  Today was day number two of trying to solve the cartoon without looking at the clue letters and I was unsuccessful again.  We had one word in quotes so I didn’t stand much of a chance.  After writing out the letters and reading the cartoon, the tugboat gave it away.  It was another great pun that you couldn’t help but smile at!  I wanted to share a picture of what I assume is a hawk of some sort sitting on an electric wire.  The picture makes him look smaller than he actually was because I was far away and didn’t want to scare him off.  Trust me, he was HUGE!  It was near the marsh and he seemed to be waiting patiently for some food to catch his eye.  It wasn’t a busy area so I pulled over and snapped a quick picture.  If anyone can help identify the species it would be greatly appreciated.  Be well and I’ll see you tomorrow!

  1. Solved 1,2 & 4 CWs then puzzle very quick..Then was able to get onward. Feel I got very lucky on fixate. That looks like a Redtail Hawk, the ;largest of the hawks sometimes mistaken for an eagle.

  2. Used the dictionary to make sure fixate was correct. Then knowing I needed an “N” got onward. Seeing the puzzles last word in quotes got me annoyed. Took too long to get the simple answer. Nice shot of the bird. Harry’s answer sounds good. I have no idea. Till tomorrow ,stay safe.

  3. Good morning! Had to get the scrabble tiles out for onward and fixate. Loved the pun. Loved your commentary and picture. I cannot identify many birds and my husband was not sure but his guess is osprey.
    To friends: Here’s hoping that next time alias is a Jumble word, we remember that the letters do not spell assail correctly. I think 3 of us fell for asail yesterday; no such word.
    Have a great day! See you tomorrow!

  4. Is the second word today wound like in the wound on my arm hurts, or like that did not wound my feelings, or he was late today because he had not wound his clock, or the river wound through the forest? Just asking.
    The real reason I am commenting again is to admit to our computer pioneer/genius that I am in the dark ages concerning my computer, am in the category of people who only know how to use the on/off switch, and I do not know how to post a picture. Sorry. I will speak to grandkids about it.
    Have a great rest of the day!

    • Hi Lelia! Wound is correct both ways. It just depends on how you pronounce it. And don’t worry about the photos, it’s no big deal. See you in the morning and thanks for your comments.

  5. I zoomed in on the bird on my cell & I think also that it’s a redtail. I think osprays have a lighter shade of gray & black, but the daylight could be a factor also. Fun puzzle!

    • Thanks for the input, Noodlebug! I did some research and I found that the red-tailed hawk is a year-round resident in southern NH and breeds in central and northern parts of the state. So that would make sense. Have a great evening my friend.
